Just reading in Kims' thread, that Norton isnt that great. Mine expires in a few weeks.

Whats the best all round package, would prefer one package to protect everything. Also dont mind paying for a package.

Thanks

i changed from norton to avg - in the end its just as good, at least for a virus killer and email sweeper. i also use Zone Alarm free version, and a couple of spyware killers

I use Nod32, very low memory usage, extremely protective and very cheap!

my mrs bought mcafee delivered for £9 for three users with 1 years subscription with updates for each and it's pretty darn good can find the website if you're interested

If you dont want a payed for solution avast and avg free are good or if you want a payed for version

Kaspersky or Avg i would say is the better option.

Run Kaspersky my self on Vista 64 and 32 + various other o/s and swapped from mcafee corp about 2 years ago never looked back.

have'nt tried new version of mcafee might of improved.

iv'e always swore by (Bit Defender) never had any prob's or virus creep through despite them trying

although i do use AVG on a second pc i run and considering it's a free download it's top notch!!;)

nod32 all the way for me. ive tried all of them & this is by far the best. as for norton & mcafee, utter garbage.

I bought AVG full version for 3 pc's for 2 years last Christmas, it cost me £65. Havent had any problems with my pc as of yet and it runs on Vista, the kids other 2 pc's are XP.

cheers John

i use avg free and spybot search and destroy and can honestly say im very happy with it. norton really slowed my system down which is why i would never use it again

I use Avast, it's free, regularly updated and takes up very little space.

Couple that with Spybot and you've got pretty good protection. :)

Agree - Avast is my current favourite, it has overtaken AVG recently. I also use Comodo firewall - both free. I don't bother with Spybot though - far to much overlap in that market these days with AV and firewall products. Windows Defender is worth loading up for free though.

NOD32 is the best AV there is, I've used it for years and won't even consider anything else.

My mate had mcafee, and I told him to get nod when his licence expired, he did and it found 22 viruses on his PC that mcafee had missed!
