hmm is that on an nA?

ย

was looking at the space where the air con compressor used to be and thinking hmmm supercharger lol

I know someone who already had this idea on his TT and is seriously looking inot it, as he has removed all the air con gear etc, so plenty of room...

I don't think on a TT it would worth all the work for the results you would get unless you went for a huge supercharger, bigger tubs would be better. The results on a NA would be good I think. I supercharged a Pug Mi16 engine with a Rotrex unit, power went from 160 to 235bhp!

could you supercharge a TT? precious little room there and how would you hook it up?

You could in theory sit it where air con was and run the belt off the same pulley as the air con did. The hardest thing is feeding it to the throttle bodies but it is similar to the single tub conversion I am doing now. I just think for the results on a TT it's not worth the hassle.

Its been done a few times, never with great results. I started plans for one a couple of years back but decided it wasn't worth it.

an old pic from a few years back of a Supercharged 300zx, with the charger where the aircon pump sits :

If you stick it in the aircon pump position then it would have to be a Centrifugal supercharger. Which delivers its output in a similar manner to a turbocharger, but is not as efficient.

what sort of power increases were achieved tho dave?

what would the cost be like when booting it on something like that with a supercharger?

I'll try and find out, it was ages ago I was looking into it, but Im pretty sure its less than Stock TT power (Limited by how much boost they could run through it without doing a forged rebuild.) and cost a lot more then it would of cost to convert to TT.

ย

I personally wouldn't fit a centrifugal blower, its design means no boost at low rpm and full boost is reached at MAX engine rpm.

ย

Ideally a Twin screw setup would be much better, which offers full boost almost instantaneously...but that would need to be mounted on top of the engine (like in the first video posted by pete21st)...and your into bonnet clearance issues and custom plenum designs..etc
