Well it had to happen, everything else has gone well since i bought it a month or two ago :-)

I got in the car the other morning to find the edge of my seat wet...

I know where the water is coming in because as i was driving around corners more water came in - almost like having an in built shower!

I have a jap targa top, and it is coming in on the seam where 2 rubber seals meet at the top of the window/targa top. The actual rubbers look ok...

I did a bit of searching on the forums and found some people suggest putting something behind the rubber seal to push it out - to make a tighter fit to the window. Someone else suggested loosening the screws that hold the rubber and try and move them a few mill to make the join to the window better (i dont want to damage the rubber though if it is old..)

Or should i be looking at trying some sort of sealant where the rubber joins??

Please advise!

Thanks

Barry

Rubber treatment.

Some people say petrolium jelly on the seals. I tried that and found that it caused the seals to get sticky when warmed up.

Some say washing up liquid but make sure you clean it all off.

I use Auto Gylm bumper care because it made for rubber seals. Spend about 5 mins rubbing it in. You can never have to much really.

There are also drain holes in the rubber which shrink due to age. Make sure you get plenty on them too and stretch the holes by putting your finger down there wink.gif

This may take a few coats over a week or so, but I find once its done it stops the leak and you only have to put the bumper care on once every few months to keep it supple.
