One or two boot struts on the 350 have started to pack up and the boot lid tends to clunk you on the head in cold weather. Brief research would indicate they are unesscessarily expensive and so I'm wondering whether one from another Nissan would fit. Has any one got a suitable one that they could measure up the open/closed length for me ?

That would be brilliant - thanks. I'll measure the ones on her 350 then too.

i can measure the ones on my 300zx for you if you like

Actually, that would be helpful as I don't have it with me at the moment. If they are the same that may solve a problem ...

Whats the boot weight and where exactley is it?

Presumably, it's either to stop the tailgate rising too rapidly, or there is some sort of resonance issue and it acts as a damper.

withing the plastic cover on the boot lid there is a 2kg weight bolted to it

:mac1: Found it. My car is now 2kg lighter. And it was free, cool
