Should I Read the Manual?

I recently bought my Z and before I start it, or even use the automatic gearbox, should I at least read the manual?

Someone said ...

"Read the manual you got with the car"

and then quoted the manual as saying...

"What the manual basically says is that under normal driving conditions use D, rapid overtaking etc. O/D off. Towing or going up steep incline use 2 or 1. That's pretty much it apart from the additional power button you import guys have."

But close examination of the manual revelled...

Is it better to spout advice without reading the manual and hope I do not get found out or check my facts before pontificating?

Any input much appreciated.

Zimon

P.S. or should I have posted this in the Test section so as not cause embarrassment???

So why didn't you just do that in the first place?

I followed your advice and went and today I got one - I returned to the Dealer who sold me the Z and asked him if he had one - low and behold he did and he gave it to me!

I actually wanted to get confirmation of the tyre pressures to use but the manual says look at the sticker in the car - of course the car being an import - the info is in Japenese!

Workshop manual on CD and the parts CD ... Fantastic!!

I have just discovered how to remove the door handles this afternoon - see entry in technical forum - It took me 2 hours for the first one 15 minutes for the second. So a few hints would not go amiss.

How big are the files? My son downloads hundreds of megs of mp3's overnight using me broadband connection. Or are they too big to transfer over the web?
