I drove past someone the other day who had like an oil sucker for his car. He had it inserted into the oil top-up inlet and as he pumped away it sucked the oil out of his engine, seemed quite effective for doing your own services. I have been looking on the net to find one but cant was wondering if any u guys know of them?

Some years back a local petrol station to me had a self service oil change system where the sucker rod fitted down the dip stick hole and removed the oil that way, if I remember right provided you purchased the oil from them there was no charge for the oil removal part.

Of course this does not get as much oil out as the filter remains full etc and any heavy particules do not get removed, however as a quick in between service oil change its nice and quick.

Have seen a device on a zed a year or so back where the sump plug had a remote ( by cable ) valve fitted so you could slip a tray under and open the valve and drain without lifting the car up, still only ok for a mid service oil change.

thats the pump thing there i think in that thread. Great idea.lol

I have one of these units to suck the oil out of my boat, it works really well. The pipe is put down the dipstisk tube. as you can immagen the sump is not avalible like it is on a car.

where abouts did u get it?

All good, but its not going to get the last shitty bit of oil out on the bottom with all the crap in. Also IIRC theres a magnet on the sump plug, how you going to clean that and inspect for lumps of metal...

No Magnet in the sump plug, thats in the autobox plug.

if there is bits in your oil you have not changed the oil regularly enough, and the filter is not working.

Main use for these is to remove gearbox oil through dipstick when there is no sump plug and prevent tipping it over yourself when you remove sump to change filters!
