Non technical answer from me but on Friday I missed the services on the A14 and did nearly 35 miles (was sweating on the M1), so I dropped behind a lorry, by the time I pulled in to the filling station was below the line.

:nono:

i didnt even know there was a fule light but id say there is no correct answer to this question as

1 it depends on any extra weight in the car

2 what power your running

3 if the car is running 100%

4 how you drive

5 manual or auto

6 if the weather is hot or cold

7 hot many things you have running i.e the heater, radio ect

sorry i carnt help bud

I do on my import, come's on quite a lot

Not very bright so in the day (unless the weather is pants) is hard to see that it's on.

15 Litres

That's not true for my car - when my light comes on, I can get 60-62 litres in my car, which means I only have 8-10 litres in the tank (assuming we have a 70L tank).

If you average 17mpg like most do, you only have a range of 30 miles.

Im the nissan workshop manual it says the low level fuel light comes on when 15 litres is left in the tank, I read it last week....

in my book, as soon as the light comes on then it gets filled up. i've run out of gas once before and I dont want to have to do the fool's petrol-can walk again! :o

but seriously though ive not seen the light come on for at least a year now cos i make sure she's got enough juice in her. its easier for me to say that though as work is only a 10-mile drive away for me.

from running out i put 5 litres in then another 10 litres after driving 3 miles to the garage and the light was still on so i would say its around 15.

mines never been on, never got more than 55 litres in the tank but the needed is on the E at that... so totally inaccurate like the rest of the gauges in the car haha!

Although some news tonight, took the old girl for a run and the oil pressure gauge is working beautifully! First time in two years of ownership... 5 days before its picked up by its new owner lol

Wouldnt know as I have el dials, all I know is it runs out just as the needle hits the top of the bottom mark! Doh

Here's a little tip - The fuel gauge is as accurate as the other gauges !

Exactly! Treat the quarter tank as empty and top up when low!!

The question should read; "How much crap gets sucked up from the bottom of the tank when the fuel light comes on?":smash::smash:

Does anyone find that the first quarter tank goes disturbingly quickly, but then the next half tank goes much slower, then the last quarter drops really quickly again? Or is it just me?

ah ha, I thought it might be, but I also assumed they would have compensated for that somehow.
