Hi guys just a quick one! My zed is almost ready but yesterday I removed my battered water logged spoiler with a view to replacing it , however I like the look of the back end without it! I've seen a panel on zcentre to fill the gap but was wondering how the handling will be affected. How much downforce do they produce and if I remove it do I need to add a diffuser or splitter to make up for it! Any advice is most appreciated cheers!

i would say that it doesnt provide enough downforce to warrant keeping it, if you wish to change the look. it would only be doing its job properly when going at a fair speed. no need for anything on the front-end if you wish to go smooth

It offers no downforce, it will however help reduce positive lift by cleaning the path of air where it leaves the rear of the car.

Its negligible though. I've never noticed any difference with spoilers removed in many Z's at very high speed.

Is this the same for a 99 spec rear spoiler? does that have any aerodynamic value? My car has the spoiler removed, and if I were to put a rear spoiler on, it would only be a 99 spec one, but I dont want to fit it if it does nothing.

Unless you have a plane wing like mine.... :slap:

That probably slows it down as opposed to applying down force.

the only way a spoiler will apply downforce is if the plane part is shaped like an aircraft wing but upside down.

Otherwise its just causing parasitic drag ;)
