What one did you put on? Was it electrical or mechanical? Where did you put the sender or the pipework to get the water?

mechanical gauge

dont no wat type it is,i just bought it at a local car shop, cost me 45 + 30 for the adapter, the adapter t piece connects up to ya pipes at the back of ya engine

it looks the dogs bollocxs tho and its dead accurate(i hope)

Around 78-80 degrees constant.

the stock guage only makes a jump at around 95 onwards i think, otherwise it sits dead centre.

My SPA guage (digital, electronic sender) reads between 75C and about 82C on the motorway, and between about 85C and 89C in stop-go traffic if I'm booting it a bit between lights etc.

Hottest it's been was 95C and the stock guage just started to move from the middle..

Oh and my stock guage hits the middle when the aftermarket one reads 35C!

My sender is into a fitting in the upper rad hose, I got Smithy to weld the 1/8NPT fitting into one of his stainless hoses.

Thats a good way of doing it.

How much did the gauge and the modified pipe set you back?

Trev

The Guage was about £140 from Demon Tweeks, it's a dual function guage that does Boost pressure & Water temp (actually any temp).

Can't recall now how much the rad pipe cost me - best to ask Smithy (Cybercraft) on that one, I'm sure he'll knock something up for anyone who wants one..

gz nice gauges mate

Jay my temp reads around 83-86 normal driving on the Techtom and when I overheated the Techtom was going up rapidly one degree C at a time while the stock gauge sat there doing feck all!

Stock gauge started to move at about 103 if I remember rightly...shat pants time basically!

I was looking at those gauges myself.

What illumination do they come with and would it be possible to change them to a different colour with a bulb change?

They look yellow on the "tweeks" site.

If you really want to know the temperature your engine is running at, you want a cylinder head temperature guage wink.gif The stock guage is designed to stay in the middle in the operating range of the engine. The problem is, if you have a coolant leak, you are losing the stuff that the sender is measuring the temperature of. The temperature goes up because there is not enough coolant in the system. If you lose all the coolant the sender has nothing to measure. Therefore, fitting a cyl head temp gauge, means you will always see the correct temperature of your engine. That makes b0ll0x all sense but you get the picture biggrin.gif
