replacing clutch

Honest advice needed on this please folks.

My clutch has just started slipping slightly, at the higher rev end of 3rd and 4th in my UK Manual.

I want to replace the complete clutch kit, but go for an uprated one, due to possible mods in power in the future.

Looking at threads alot state RPS is the way to go, but some have had issues.

Whats the best to go for and will involve the least hassle with bleeding etc.?

While box is out, what else is worth doing as more of a maintenance side, oil seal, prop bearing etc?

Cheers Stu

Depedning on what power your planning the rps max is good for i think 500fwhp

It will have a heavier feel than stock but this is the only downfall and i think its well worth it. If you prefer something a little less heavy then buy the rps street for a stock clutch feel but it will only see you past i think 400fwhp, Someone can correct me on that one!!!

Kit comes with release bearing pressure plate and friction plate.

Change the pilot bush aswell and either match the clutch with a good flywheel or have the stock rebalanced and skimmed.

While the box is out you should also change and uprate the pivot ball i think off the top of my head danny does them for around £25-£30.

What else....... Definatley change the rear main seal and the gearbox rear seal too.

An oil change would be a good idea if it hasnt been done recently and replace once the box is in, dont make the same mistake i made which left me covered in expensive GB oil as it pissed out all over me while i was fitting it :D lol

To aid bleeding Buy a braided clutch line which connects straight from the master to the slave. Which clutch you buy wont affect bleeding in any way althought a heavier clutch will put i think more pressure on the hydraulics so your slave and master should be in good condition if there are any leaks change if nessesary.

Remember to adjust the pedal once the clutch is bled so that it bites in the desired position, i think about 1 inch from the floor before it begins to bite is reccomended but this i think will change once the clutch has worn in a bit, so re adjust accordingly.

Thats about it i think. Sorry for all the bad spelling.

I'm having the RPS max clutch installed with RPS flywheel at the moment and J1mmytt has covered everything.

I've learnt the hard way with the higher hydraulic pressure and awaiting on a new master cylinder from Japan as there aren't any over here (3 week wait!!) Slave cylinder was full of crap, so thats replaced and I have a guy from HoseSolutions.co.uk making me up a braided line from master to slave as my mechanic has had a nightmare trying to bleed it.

I just hope its not going to be a pain for normal driving, if it is i'll kick myself for not going for the carbon carbon

Not sure about the three week wait for a master cylinder. I've just bought one from MJP and that was delivered within a couple of days

Mine was ordered with MJP, you must of got the last one lol

Fair enough - i ordered mine on tuesday and it arrived on fri
