November 25, 200817 yr car is curently boosting at around 6psi which i gather is safety boost, im going to do a ecu check when i get a chance if that comes up clear is the next step checking for boost leaks? if so how would i go about this?
November 25, 200817 yr boost leak wouldnt put you in safty but you might aswell check for them. Check your knock sensor connector/wires etc if these are fine then............. Your car may be detonating
November 25, 200817 yr Checking for boost leaks at home is a problem unless you have a really good compressor. You will need a boost leak detector pressuriser which is a cup with a tyre valve in that fits in place of your MAF. You then need to pressurise it to about 10 psi and then listen / feel for leaks around your system. It is not an easy job.
November 25, 200817 yr Author this may be stupid of me but how does the boost work does it go up to 10 psi when u put the foot down then get a little lower as you go up the revs or should it stay at 10 psi all the time once it reachs this. just that i noticed tonight that it does go up to just under 10 but then the higher it gets up the revs it goes down to about 6 or 7. this what it should do?
