Hi all

Tonight as soon as I set off from work I noticed a creaking type noise as I went over a bump or pot hole etc, when on the main rd and doing 30 the noise became more frequent and could basical’y pin point it to my side of the dash (sounds like it's coming from the right and side of clocks inside dash)

and sounds like plastic rubbing against plastic strange thing is it's never done it before and I’ve never messed with the dash? the noise increases and decreases with speed and is really annoying:headvswal

just wanted any thought's or similar probs?

(i'd rather not have to strip to find the prob but have a feeling i may have 2!)

Thanks chris:)

Hi mate

I've spent my life recently chasing squeeks. Ive found that cables can rub and cause creaks etc. It may just be that as the temp has dropped that the squeeks get worse. Does it get better once the car has warmed up?

I would get some dry lube and spray down and contact points on the dash and if you can be bothered take the panels off under the dash have a go at anything that looks like its touching anything else.

Cheers mate HTH

i sorted all my dash squeeks out when i did my retrim. bye bye squeeks

but seriously its common as muck mate

Thanks for the reply’s guys thought it might be a common one!

Yep and first thing I done once I relised it wasn’t serious was turn the music up.

Didn’t notice any change once warmed up but it literally only started doing it today so hopefully it is temp related!

I mean don’t get me wrong ive had the odd squeak here and there but this one's new loud & annoying

gonna have to investigate it further role on the 27th as im off for 11 days!

Just been for some juice and no squeaks!! So hopefully it is temp related:nana2:

probably not the same problem but the bottom of my 3-pod A-pillar gets cosy up against the far-right corner of the dash sometimes and makes a light knocking noise now and then. the good thing about the squeaks and knocks in my car is that they're from all over the place so there's never any one single noise to annoy me

Similar area really? but im certainly going to have a better nose on me hols and, lol at the multi noises im getting there my self though:rolleyes:

Hi mate yes mine did lost of squeeking along where the a pillar touches the dash. Alos the plastic bit at the side with the vent in it did the same. these things always get worse in the cold. I only have one left and it does my head in. Its a high pitch squeek its movement related an comes from the passenger front cant figure out if its the bonnet moving as i go over things or something in the suspension????

Hi - i have similar problem but has only started recently - have narrowed it down to having heater on. Found it first started when went on long run at night and was cold, so fired up heater and noise started - shut heater down, when cooled, noise went

So think it is expansion of pipes, matrix etc.

These cars are 18yrs old, dont worry about it or get a louder zorst.....:p I have a few squeaks here and there but driving my z makes me smile so I just ignore them:hyper:
