Sounds like a suspension prob dont it,
Try jacking up the car at the jack points in front of each wheel, then inspect the Shox for signs of leaks and the springs for any signs severe corrosion or damage.
Another less reliable but lazier way is to give the car a good lateral shove around each of the wheels and listen for creaking.
The side that is the lowest will more than likely have the problem.
Got Rice? from tt/Z32 had a Group buy on Tein Coil overs, Go for a set of them if you are unsure what the problem is as they are Springs and Shox Together. Ride is meant to be pretty hash tho, but nice handeling for any MR2 bashing adventures :o)
