On my way home from work this afternoon i thought ide pop into my mates scrapyard...1 for my daily mooch and 2 for a chat. Just finnishing my sniff and mooch around (you,ll be amazed what ive found in last 5 years) i found in the corner a metal bucket full of tungsten tooling tips all brandnew, allthough i have enough tooling to last into the next decade LOL i thought ide have a stab and make a bid on them so i was going to offer £30-£50 and sell half and keep half. "how much you after for these" i shouted over..."there sold" he shouted back......I was gobsmacked that he told me he had moved them on at current tungsten scrap prices at a little under £800  for a buck…

  10. Used to be able to get some decent components around, but now it seems that if you want to repair anything on a componant level, then the only option is buying from the US and paying extortionate import charges. Ive tried maplins and ive also tried RScomponents but no one seems to stock the part i need to fix a bloody plasma screen. A friend recently had a Panasonic viera plasma screen, blow its two internal 8Amp fuses, this usually means there is a short on the board, so first step was taking the back off and testing the usual suspects, the Diode bridge tested perfectly fine, so i changed the fuses, this then gave me power to the board and made life a bit easi…

Hi does anyone know much about projectors. I want to add 1 in my man cave for movies and gaming. Im getting lost within all the spec's. The part of the room I want to convert is 18ft×9ft using 100" screen which is ideal for the wall. From what I understand the higher the lumens and ratio the better? I want 1080p and possibly 3D. I see that there are various screens from matt, grey and shiney whats ideal? Also ive noticed that some projectors have different lenses some fixed and others adjustable for smaller rooms but nothing states the minimal room required to gain a 1080p picture on an 100" screen. Any help would be great thanks Dan

Do any of you guys use wireless video senders? I bought a new set up so i could transmit the skybox downstairs to the tv upstairs in the bedroom and couldnt get it to work and now the receiver doesnt even turn on so its going back. So i tried an old system ive had for years, but forgot all about it, til i found it in my loft. Both the transmitter and receiver light up, but doesnt matter which channels i put them on, i get no signal or audio to the tv in the bedroom. I have had to use scart out the skybox to the transmitter and scart into my tv upstairs from the receiver, ive even tried swapping the units thinking i had them the wrong way round, but still…

I can't help modifying cars sometimes, the new mazda has been given some growl with an induction kit. My last one had a Typhoon K&N kit but they now cost £250! Sod that I thought so for under £50 I have made this... I was inspired by some other guy online who basically did the same thing so can't take all the credit but it required a bit more than slipping on pipes and jubilee clips. Here is the K&N for comparison of pipework length and proximity to the exhaust. I firstly removed all the stock stuff, and peeled back the loom to get some more mobility on the MAF wiring and the Air temp sensor. Removed the breather line and replace with th…

Having installed a 3D tv in my newly decorated front room, i decided to do away with my 5 speaker and sub surround sound for something a little neater looking so bought a sound bar, its an LG nb2520 wih built in sub woofer, but the bottom end although very discreet doesnt impress me much and even though the sleep timer is off the bar turns itself off every now and again, which is bloody annoying. Im going to either add a sub or upgrade, just waned to know what everyone else was using and your thoughts on the best set up. A friend of mine has a Bose solo, cost around £300 but too bulky for the shelf i have under the TV, but does sound great. What are you usi…

  16. Hi All, Does anyone know anything about the above. The car has no warning messages but after any journey the suspension rises to max height on the front and then you can hear it venting down and the suspension returns to normal height. It is not lowering during the night and it rises on command using the appropriate button. I,m not sure if it's driving at full height. I think it's just when it stops. Cheers in Advance.

My car ran badly for a little while today and a similar thing about a week ago. Normally it's fine, then all of a sudden it started running rough; down on power, needs more accelerator and using more fuel. No warning lights or similar. Stopping and turning it off and on didn't seem to help. Turning it off and locking then unlocking the central locking with the key seemed to fix it both times. It felt a bit like it wasn't running on all cylinders. The rest of the time it's fine. It's got 165,000 miles on the clock, the last 40,000 done by me over the last 18 months. I've always had it serviced by a good independent except the most recent minor service about a mon…

My wife thinks the side of the house now looks like a scrapyard, which is good cus that was the look I was going for . Got a set of traffic lights to go up aswel. Just got a few bits to do to finish it all off.
