Believe it or not Lombard Street used to be a two way street! Clint Eastwood does a car chase down it in one of the Dirty Harry movies. It's now a one way (down!).
  2. I thought the Series II 300ZX came out in 1992? One of the noticeable changes being that the seatbelts were moved from the doors to the door pillars? So how is that this 1994 'M' reg import has seatbelts on the doors? http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/1994-NISSAN-300-ZX-2-2-BLACK-TARGA-TOP_W0QQitemZ4615079555QQcategoryZ18238QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem

I'm rushing down to Toys R Us to buy one!
  4. Just home from the States. Body clock all screwed up. Woke up at 3.30am and can't get back to sleep. Damn it!!
  5. I was double checking on the engine dropping or lifting because the dealer told me that they had dropped the engine to replace rear hoses. There seems to be a distinct odor around everything that the dealer told me, could it be.... bullsh*t?
  6. It was definately a TT. When these engines come out are they lifted out or dropped down?
  7. Like military helicopters? Like AC/DC? :hyper: Then this is for you: http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=-3500652784163967618&q=ac+dc
  8. If you check Autotrader ads you will have seen a 1993, 'K'reg, SWB, Twin Turbo, Slicktop, Leather interior, Auto, with a dealer for sale at £3495. I went to see it and test drove it today. Apart from various blemishes to the paintwork, excusable for age, I had some queries about the mechanics. To start with, the fuel gauge was below empty, so I could only go around the block on the test drive. Despite warming it up before driving, the heating never warmed up. The HICAS light stayed on for a long time. It did go off eventually, but came on again as soon as I slowed at a junction. Performance was flat. I drove there in a 193bhp BMW 328i. Compared to my car, the 300ZX felt like an old Skoda. Bear in mind I've driven in Karl's 300ZX, so I know how they can go! The brakes were wooden. The turbo boost gauge had been blanked off (inside the glass). There was no way of assessing boost. The oil pressure gauge moved a little, but never altered with the revs. The dealer told me they had dropped the engine to fit new rear hoses because there had been a leak. After initial start-up the engine ran smoothly until it was warm, then the tickover was very lumpy. On the test drive there was a vibration running throughout the whole car. I was assured this was just due to a flat spot on a tyre due to the car standing for a while. The clock showed 58,000km, but the drivers bolster was worn out. My BM has done 70,000miles and doesn't show that much wear on the leather. There is no history from Japan, and nothing in the engine bay indicating that belts might have been changed. So, despite everyone telling me how rare SWB Slicktop (Series II) Autos are, I walked away. But did I do the right thing? Is there a simple explanation to my points above?
  9. So what do you think it will reach? I bet it doesn't make its reserve (which is probably silly money!).

  11. Look at those last 2 posts from xav2075 and T-Pot. That says more about the work that we (cops) do than I ever could have. Don't even get me started about what I do now (Prolific Offenders Scheme)! However, no disrespect to Dirty Sanchez, but isn't this forum about cars?
  12. Hey buddy, you're not the only cop on here! As per a previous post, you don't join the river police unless you like boats, you don't join mounted branch unless you like horses, and you don't join traffic unless you have a real grudge against humanity. You aren't trafpol are you?
  13. 'Dance' is good for a laugh!
  14. Let us know if they serve 4x vodka + a Redbull in the Naafi when you get there!!
  15. Of course it is, happened to a friend of mine (not Karl though - he hasnt got any hair!).
  16. A middle aged man bought himself a 300 ZX Targa Top. He took off down the road, pushed it up to 100 and was enjoying the wind blowing through his (thinning) hair. "This is great," he thought and accelerated to an even higher speed. But when he eventually looked in his rear-view mirror there was a Police Car behind him, blue lights flashing. "I can get away from him with no problem" thought the man and he floored it some more, and flew down the road at over 150 to escape being stopped. Then he thought, "What the hell am I doing? I'm too old for this kind of thing" and pulled over to the side of the road, and waited for the Police car to catch up with him. The Policeman pulled in behind the Zed and walked up on the driver's side. "Sir, my shift ends in five minutes and today is Friday the 13th. "If you can give me a good reason that I've never heard before as to why you were speeding, I'll let you go." The man looked back at the Policeman and said, "Last week my wife ran off with a Policeman and I thought you were bringing her back." The Policeman said, "Have a nice day."
  17. Just spoke to a friend who's a traffic police sergeant. He confirmed what Richard says above. NIP has to be posted within 14 days (not received within 14 days). Sent to the registered keeper. You learn something every day!
  18. They have 14 days once they know WHO has committed an offence, but I think they have 6 months to ask the registered keeper who the driver was. Once they know that the 14 days kicks in.
  19. As mentioned in earlier posts, the Council should have an Anti-Social Behaviour Unit, which is staffed by the Council/Police and should be located in the Town Hall. They can take out an ASBO, but you need lots of evidence, ie photos/video/diary. Used correctly ASBO's are superb.
  20. Can't tell you individually, but a pint of Guinness, 4x vodka + 1x Red Bull, a G&T and a vodka lime and soda (for the Laydees) cost £15. But we were in Swiss Cottage, not the West End, so it was cheaper than central London.
  21. I've been reading posts similar to this for a while now, but didn't understand what people were on about until I went out with Karl today! Roundabouts+greasy roads+Zed=sideways action!
  22. If you find nearly the perfect car, but it's an NA, and you want a TT, how much will a conversion to TT cost, if you get it professionally done by one of the Z experts? Just wondering if it's economically viable.
  23. Well I've just subscribed thanks to Karl. Looks like I'll be around for a while!
  24. Hi guys. I'm a newbie to the Forum. I joined because I'm thinking of getting a Zed. As the result of an earlier thread I ended up having a beer or two with Karl. Well, when I say beer, I was on Guinness, Karl was on pints of 4 vodkas and a Red Bull! (That starts to hurt at London prices!!) Today I went over to see the Zed, and what a monster it is! There are two things you can't appreciate just from photos: 1) Karl is Matt Lucas from Little Britain 2) The paintwork is phenomenal. The photos can't possibly do it justice. The car is just awesome, and that's before you start it up! Karl very kindly took me for a spin (nearly literally - the roads were greasy). We hit the M4, did a couple of junctions, headed north and back into town on the A40(M). Karl let me drive on the way back, and I soon found out what happens when you put down too much horsepower down coming off a roundabout! Thanks a million to Karl for trusting me with the beast and for putting up with all my stupid questions. It's helped me a lot. Good luck in Iraq buddy. So if anyone knows a Series II, SWB, auto, low miles/kms, good history, un-modified, for a reasonable price then let me know.
  25. ref the traffic police: You don't join the river police unless you like boats, you don't join the mounted police unless you like horses, and you don't join the traffic police unless you have a real grudge against humanity!
