Software
I'm probably being a pain in the arse now, but can anyone enlighten me on where to buy Datascan / Consult software + cable? I've searched in the top right box and drawn a blank, Google is also giving me false hope. I've found threads from 2011 and 2009 but the links don't work anymore. Cheers!

Thanks guys. I don't know the difference between a stock EPROM and a socketed EPROM?

Hi guys, Just a quick one, how do I tell if my ECU has been chipped or upgraded? The bloke I bought the car off didn't really know what had been done to it. It has a Apexi Type R old type boost controller, and a device which he described as "afm enrichment", so I was guessing nout has been done in regards to twiddling with ECU setting ect? Cheers! Eddie

TT Intermittent starting issue
Again I didn't do all cylinders, only 4, I didn't like the feel of the plug holes and pretty much got the picture from there. All around the 100 - 115 psi range. I didn't do anything with the timing no, as I didn't know where to start, and couldn't see a problem if it occasionally fires up with no drama or even a single seconds worth of cranking. I've checked connections, vacuum lines and what not. Haven't measured fuel pressure, as I don't have the equipment to do so either

TT Intermittent starting issue
After doing abit of digging in my spare time I have come up with nothing. It has got to the point where I think it isn't going to start at all so I don't want to take it out. The starting issue is getting more and more frequent, mainly when hot. If I leave it for a week or so, come to it to start it, it fires up straight away. I got hold of a proper compression tester and the ape that had the car before me hasn't been kind to the spark plug holes, and feels gut-wrenchingly soft when putting the plugs back in. Fuel, and spark present, I wonder if I have to pull the engine out and to pieces unless anyone has come across this before and would like to share?

The reverse of a compression test really, where you pressurise the cylinders with air and see what leaks down past the pistons

Serviced as in health checked? Or general service?

Hi Art, The engine winds over very quickly, and does sound like it has lost alot of compression over the years. The engine runs fine really, a tiny bit of blue smoke when you set off after it's sat ticking over from cold, but nothing really. It's reasonably clean exhaust gas wise.

Much obliged, I don't hold out much hope though

I see what you mean. I think the previous owner may have abused it, it has a boost controller in it that goes up to 1.4 bar, stock turbos, stock guts in the engine ect. It uses a small amount of oil yes, but you don't see any cloud of smoke bellowing out of the exhaust. The mileage is 109,000. A little high yes, but I didn't pay much for the car at all, and did expect having to pull the engine out at some point. I did only run a test on 3 cylinders, didn't want to break my heart anymore today

105psi, 95 psi, 100 psi ect It cranks over very quickly and didn't sound over healthy when I started it earlier, so thought i'd check it. Must admit the equipment isn't calibrated. Can't see it being 50psi out though

Evening all That time on a Sunday where I like causing misery towards myself.. I have just done a compression test on my car, and the results were, erm, well depressing i'd say. 100 psi average.. So the question is since you are the guys in the know, where is the best / fairest place to get engine parts for it? Thinking of forging whilst i'm in there, but would like to price up costs ect. Thank you in advance
