Help Request on Oil Filter Tree
Stephen.... I'm aware about the markings on the heads, I was curious if there's a way to see the markings with everything installed in the car? Also, how did you determine which block you had? I would also like to determine the same thing. Lymon.... pics would be great! I have time, seeing as my car is up and running (just without the oil cooler installed). I've performed miracles since getting my z back from the moron "mechanic". I wish I was in the position to yank the motor, but I'm not :( More details...... Hope my pics worked, this is my first attempt at posting photos. Here is NA vs TT... notice NA is shorter. Mine is the same length as the TT tree..... Here is the version that is installed on my car currently. Notice there is no "spout" sticking out for the oil cooler line. My OPS unit is installed where you see the bolt in the pic. Here is mine from the bottom, with oil filter removed. Notice the 2 ball check valves - these indicate TT tree, as the NA tree doesn't have these (due to differences in the block) Here is how my oil pan is capped - any suggestion on a better method to cap this? I didn't do this, but it appears it's saturated and might be leaking slightly.

Lymon.... both of those images make the tree look short.... mine is as long as a usdm tt tree. Stephen.... my injectors are "new" style. i just couldnt match them to any injector (visually) via images on the internet. they might be the new style 370cc jecs (oem) as they are purple. This keeps getting more puzzling.... haha! I appreciate all the insight!

JaiKai, that is interesting info. I knew the motor was "new style" but I'm not sure what year exactly. So perhaps the oil cooler spout was removed from my tree, and the OPS unit was tapped into it? I also want to figure out which heads, fuel injectors, manifolds and turbos I have too :)

So your OPS unit is installed on the oil filter tree? Your tree has a "spout" for the oil cooler line?

Help Request on Oil Filter Tree
New to this forum but have owned z32's for 15 years now..... located in the US, not the UK ;) I have an issue currently with my oil filter tree. My z is a 1990 TT chassis, with a "JDM" motor installed recently. I'm truly not sure which oil filter tree I have on my z. The "mechanic" installed the oil pressure sending unit into the tree in order to utilize the stock harness (U.S. passenger side), but the tree doesn't have the "spout" for the oil cooler line. I'm starting to think I have a EURO spec oil filter tree, or perhaps a 97-99 JSPEC motor, etc. The oil filter tree has the 2 check ball valves in it (unlike the NA trees which don't have these check valves). I also have an oil pressure sending unit installed on the driver's side (left side for USDM cars). I'm hoping someone can post a pic, or explain clearly how EURO models are hooked up (oil filter tree and oil cooler). Thanks in Advanze!!!!

Temperature gauge a bit dodgy when cold.
Hi Stephen, I never received an email from you. Hoping to receive one soon, so we can start the discussion on the oil filter tree removal :)

Yes, it's a TT model (USDM). Sorry to thread-jack.... here's my email if you wouldn't mind contacting me. m.mitt@hotmail.com Thanks again

Stephen, Did you ever attempt to remove your oil filter tree with the motor in the car? I'm new to this forum, and couldn't see an option to PM you or send you an email. Please let me know what you concluded. Thanks
