Sticky Instrument Clocks 1992 TT
Pretty much all my instrument clocks are starting to stick/freeze. Is there an easy fix for this (i.e. Dry solder joint repair etc)? Or do I need to replace? The speedo and rev counter have done it for years; a bit of a bang on the dash and they seem to wake up again. Now they're all doing it. (Boost gauge etc). Also, if I were to buy a second hand replacement set, could somebody tell me what series a 1992 JDM TT 2+2 auto would be? Cheers Steve J

OEM Digital Clock cheap "fix" solution
Yeah, the 2 yellow wires u can probably see on one of the pics are attached to a push button switch. You keep it pressed until 'hour' flashes, then press again to scroll through the numbers; same again for minutes and seconds. It also has date, month and year.. At the moment the button is just loose behind the clock, but by intention at some stage is to secure it behind the 'reset' button of the factory housing (probably requiring araldite or a bit of filler etc)

The gauges are a bit of a stop gap. I cut away my original fascia and fitted a cheap Chinese type double din GPS stereo when I first got it. Never really happy with it tbh, and went back 'old school' with the single DIN Alpine unit a few weeks back. Feeds a sub in the boot and some JBL's in the old rear speaker mounts, via 2x amps; decent sound out of it and miles better than the Chinese GPS unit I put in. I misplaced the old cubby and bought the gauge unit as a means of filling in the gap. Would have preferred them to be black, but was only £6.99 plus post, so couldn't really grumble..... http://pages.ebay.com/link/?nav=item.view&alt=web&id=252494248932

link for the clock on eBay is http://pages.ebay.com/link/?nav=item.view&alt=web&id=201423489564 There are loads of others very similar, but this one is a uk seller, and to be fair to him, came in post next day (small enough to fit through letter box so no need for somebody waiting in for parcel)

OEM Digital Clock cheap "fix" solution
Upgraded my dead Zed digital clock with a generic 12v eBay purchase today, seems a cheap fix for anybody interested... About 6 quid off eBay from a UK seller, 3 or 4 quid if you want to wait for a Slow boat from China... Removed it from its housing and stuck it into the (newly emptied) OEM clock housing to then screw back on to the console fascia. It adjusts by means of a push button on a short pair of cables that would not take much work to fit to the OEM reset button on the original housing. Mine is red, which suits me fine, but some sellers do it in blue as well which is probably nearer the factory colour. Probably not for the purists, but it floats my boat and the digits are actually a touch bigger for the optically-challenged amongst us!

JDM rear fog
Mine was already wired when I got it. It has an illuminated rocker switch on the panel that goes under the steering wheel, positioned so you can see it. I wasn't too keen on the 80's style aftermarket fog lamp screwed to the bumper though, so took it off and fitted some bright red. LED's into the reverse-light housings.....

Yes, it's a bit of surface rust off something else that has splashed over it.

Found out why mine was cutting out and running lumpy last week on the run up..... Had a feeling the symptoms may have been MAF related, as I had to replace it when I first bought it 3 years ago. Turned out that the air filter had fallen off!
