I have been looking at a 300zx twin turbo on ebay It has finished now but the guy is after £400 plus delivery He says he has bills for loads of work to the engine and has now broken the car The engine is miles away so no chance of seeing it It has garret turbos and has been removed from the car I am a little sceptical as whether to buy this or not Any help would be appreciated

Anyone know where I can get a reliable twin turbo engine for a manual 300zx I have spent far too much money trying to get mine right and it seems now 3 cylinders on the near side have no compression Done a wet compression test and it comes up Assuming rings gone now and am loosing faith in the turbo on the n/s as well I think a replacement engine and turbos would be a more positive solution Categories Uncategorized

It runs fine except for the exhaust is like a steam train plenty of smoke Engine sounds good on tickover seems strange to have such a good readout for the drivers side Then really low on the passenger side Is it worth me pulling the head off to establish whats going on and repair maybe 1 head or is it a new engine that's needed Where is the most likely place the compression could be going to as it seems on a leakdown test its coming through the intake Could it be all the inlet valves are stuck ?? and if so how and why ???

Next job I suppose I gotta remove headgasket??? Thinking it could be pistons? Maybe valves? Or rings?? Anyone any knowledge is this field, whole right side of engine compression very low

Hey Have just completed a compression test. These were the results. Bottom Left - 160 Middle left - 150 Top Left - 140 Bottom right - 70 Middle right - 70 Top right - 50 Dosent look good to me!! What results should I be seeing. Any ideas on likely problems with readings like that? Cheers, Nick

How much is a upper Gasket and where would i get one from, any ideas? Cheets btw

Just got car back from Garage. Been told the Rocker cover Gasket is leaking badly. Garage was going to charge £650 to repair this. So instead have decided to give it a go myself. How long do you reckon this will take me, first time at stripping down one of these engines. Any advice or tips appreciated! Cheers, Nick

Also how much would i pay for a engine? How much would i pay for a set or turbos?

It appears i am going to need a new engine for my girl. There is so much wrong with it since the engine fire it pretty much would need a complete engine rebuild! Firstly anyone got an engine for sale? Anyone got any turbos for sale? Or does anyone know of a reliable source i can go to to get an engine?

took it for a cruise, its smoking so badly!!!!! And when got home identifed what must be the 5th oil leak i have found coming from rear of engine. This last couple of weeks the cars cost be a fortune. Just messaged Jeff at zworld to orgainse a trip up there! Only concern im scared it wont make the journey :/

Yeah i was very lucky! No exterior garage only engine garage thank god!

No only one of my ZX with a fire engine behind it! Will get one of engine once i go to garage next! Think this will be exspensive.....!

Bad news for my ZX Was driving along m25 when i noticed smoke coming from the engine and threw my vents. Quickly pulled to hard shoulder, opened bonnet to find my engine a complete blaze. Flagged down a lorry who had a fire extinguisher put it out within a minuite. However i think its still caused alot of damage :( Garage reckons an oil hose has burst and leaked onto the manifold where the engine has caught light, will this be the end of the ZX........ who knows!
