  1. I was surprised to this thread again 9 months after I started it :) :) :)
  2. You're right, I was getting a little mixed up between the 850 and 840, it's the early 4 litre engine that had the problems. After 96 (I think) they changed the engine to the 4.4 V8 with different sleeves.
  3. Just noticed it's an 840. All the above still applies tho.
  4. Engine wise the 850 is the same as the 750 only the early ones suffered from the nikasil problem and if it's got over 100k on the clock it's either had a new engine or it's safe to say it'll go on for another 100k. If the idle is not silky smooth walk away, you should be able to stand a pound coin on its side on the engine and it will not fall over even if you rev it a bit. Steering boxes and all the linkages are another thing to watch out for, the steering box alone is over £1000. And make sure everything electrical works too.
  5. If it's the one it's my old one. I sold it in November (gearbox getting noisy) to a lad in waterlooville then I saw it on ebay and in fratton for sale 2 weeks ago.
  6. Did the yellow one look like this Piccy

That pearl yellow on ebay is my old one. I wouldn't touch it unless he's replaced the gearbox and sorted the water pipes at the back of the engine. Its also had a not so good respray that is a couple of different colours around the car.
  8. Well Zymol is supposed to last longer on the car than the cheaper versions so rather than polishing say bi-weekly it's more like bi-monthly so it should last a lot longer and therefore in the long run is good value for money. There is one of their products @ £1600 for a tub!!!!
  9. There definately some nice shiny cars about today. A lot of it is down to personal preference but I think you definately get what you pay for - I just can't get the missus to see why I need a £95 tub of Zymol :(
  10. Spent a few hours on the beemer today. Wash Meguairs Clay Kit Autoglym Super Resin Polish P21s carnauba wax
  11. I'll have to see if I can dig out a pic of my Metallic Brown Datsun 120y 4 door with loads of spot lights on and all wired straight into the lighting circuit direct with a fuse wrapped in silver fag paper. When they were all on you could smell the wiring starting to melt. LOL
  12. Tell me about it! It took me quite a while to get the links and stuff working. Download the trial program from the site then I went to cracks.am page A20 and got the crack for v1.90 ONLY DOWNLOAD THE .ZIP FILE NOT THE .EXE IT ASKS YOU TO SAVE FIRST
  13. I liked the look of AstonShell so I downloaded it, cracked it and now my desktop looks like this.
  14. Bit of a guess really my first car was a sh*t brown 120y cost me £100
  15. oooops maybe not then, how about datsun 120y
