  1. Going to be getting my engine rebuild shortly and was wondering what my options for turbos are (as 1 of mines has seized) I was originally wanting to have them reconditioned but im now defo wanting to buy brand new ones so i have peace of mind. How much would i be looking at paying for 2 new standard turbos + what is the next ones up from standard etc as i would maybe think about getting better ones than standards depending on cost + power differences. Cheers

  4. Dont know mate i just thought it was better to buy brand spanking new ones instead of refurbing them and like i say i just want to have the car as reliable as possible. Just want to get in it this summer and be able to drive it without worrying about smoke or things going wrong all the time. Its been far far too long
  5. i heard a couple of bad things about the garage when it comes to previous work done on 300zx's Ruishy1.

  7. Aye i know Shrek took his down to Jimmer and he was very happy with the work done. Its a long long way from here but i suppose if its going to end up with my engine running perfect again then it would be worth the travel.

Hi guys , just looking for some advice as im looking to resurrect my 300zx for this summer and looking at getting some engine work done, just not too sure what my options are yet: My nissan has been off the road for the past couple of years, she was smoking quite bad everytime i pulled up at traffic lights etc and it was left idling and whilst it was off the road i was going to get it fixed however i got the chance of a wide arch kit and a few other body parts for half price last winter so i decided to fit that and have it looking mint, then start on the engine once the body was done. That time has almost come and i was wondering who/where is best for me to take it to get the engine sorted, im in Glasgow but dont mind having to travel to somewhere if i know the end results are worth it and the cost is ok , as ive heard to many bad stories about putting 300zx's into garages that dont specialise in 300zxs. Also , how much 'roughly' would i be looking at paying? Im just after a pretty much standard rebuild as i want to go for reliablity over serious power, and im wanting to have brand new turbos fitted as im pretty sure mine are knackered. Was also thinking that as my engine would be out anyway what else should be done.....oil pump, water pump renewed etc, same with all the hoses at the back of the engine? Cheers

  13. So do u reckon if i just plug the control box back in then the alarm siren will start going off again then it might just be a case of typing in the code or hopefully even that the Fob will work again and the problem in the 1st place might have just been interference?
  14. Hi guys , got a big problem and was wondering if anyone can help / advise please....... My girlfriend bought an MR2 a couple of months ago which had a sigma M30 alarm/immobiliser already fitted , anyway she had never had any problems with it until Saturday afternoon when we went to the Rangers v Liverpool game. We came back out after the game only to find that the button on the Fob was not disarming the immobiliser (ive since read that these mind not work in certain areas because of phone signals - never had the car near Ibrox before so dont know if this was a issue here) anyway , we tried for ages to get the fob to work & typed in the pin code on the box but neither worked. Then the alarm went off when she tried turning the keys in the ignition and wouldnt stop so we called the AA out and the guy had to disconnect the signal box and bypass the immobiliser & alarm siren otherwise there was no way we could have got the engine started to get it home and got the siren to stop. Now the car will start without the immobiliser but there is a constant ticking noise (the AA man said it was doing that because he bypassed it) Now i dont know how to sort it, if i plug the control box back in will the alarm siren continue to sound + do you reckon that the Fob keys would now work , as the AA man check the Fobs and said they were sending out a good signal and were working fine. Im totally stuck + the constant ticking is driving everyone daft :headvswal

  16. i'll be there mate, i got my form in last week aswell + i had my zed at it a couple of years ago and it was a brilliant day but wolud have been better if there had been enough for a club stand that year aswell
  17. My mate has just left our work & opened his own body & paint shop in Motherwell....... he's really good + as he's just started out on his own he wont cost a fortune + he painted my 300zx. Bigmincy worked with us so he knows him aswell.
  18. cheers guys, i took it back to my mate who fitted the kit and he agrees that there is too much of a lip on the fibre-glass so he's going to try and take it up a bit

Is it possible to raise the suspension , even only about 5/10mm .........my car was on lowering springs when i got it and when i fitted 18"s on it there was hardly any room under the arches so i got a pair of standard springs, which have improved it a bit but everytime i hit a small bump or pot hole the tyres catch the arches + if any1 sitting in the back it rubs constantly...... :headvswal

Aye it was bigmincey's car b4 he sold it to me + hes helped me a lot with other problems ive had but just wanted everyones opinion cos im 1 of those people who panic and fear the worst as soon as i see a bit of smoke lol. Forgot to mention that when i drove it home from work (7-8 miles on motorway) it was really really smokey up until it reached about 50-60mph then was totally clear until i had to come off motorway and stop at junctions again.

Hi , im looking for some advice I'll try and keep this short: I have a 1990 Jap 300zx twin turbo that i bought 3 years ago and i took it off the road just over a year and a half ago as i got the chance to purchase a wide arch kit , vented wings , vented bonnet etc all together and i had spare £s at the time. Anyway now its about a year and half later and im ready to put it on the road again, the car hasnt moved for a year and hasnt even been started for last 8 months since i brought it home from my work (where it had sat for months getting everything fitted + painted) and was wondering if theres anything i should watch out for or check before starting it up again? When i brought the car home a year ago it was smoking pretty bad which made me panic (before i bought the bodykit etc it had started to smoke but only a tiny tiny bit and i had put it down to PCV valves as the previous owner had reconditioned the turbos less than 10000 miles ago..............my m8 from work has said that he thinks the reason it was smoking bad when i brought it home was because when it was in my work for 6months it was only getting moved from the car-park to the bodyshop (50yards) every couple days and wasnt getting a chance to warm up properly and that it proberly just needs a really good run to clear it. I have just fitted new o2 sensors , new PCV valves (the old ones that came off were clogged up and completly solid) , series2 PTU , new exhaust , braided fuel lines but am i right in thinking that the car needs to be ran for a couple hundred miles as there will be a build up of crap because the valves were knackered? I have found that 1 of the small water hoses (near the back of engine close to battery) has split , so i need to fix that before i do anything but apart from that i am stuck , i dont know what else i can replace and im worried that if i take it out for a long drive to 'clear it' something major goes wrong. I have done the self diagnostics for the ECU and the Auto gearbox and both showed no problems. + bought a new battery to put in this weekend and get the car started. I dont know what the next step to take is and was hoping some1 could advise me the best way to go about it because i dont want to take it to a garage to get the engine taken out and turbo seals or even turbos changed only for them to realise that the turbos etc were ok anyway and it must have been some other problem. :headvswal:headvswal:headvswal
