cheers guys.. Yeah there's a few things that need sorting on it
chassis seems solid, except the rust I can't see, yet... I've had quite a few 200sx's so I'm assuming the 300 rots in the same way back of the sills etc...
engine seems good, idles well, starts first time (even after 2 years of sitting) pull well, power seems good - sound lush!
It drove 270 miles to croft, ragged it for the day and drove back and didn't miss a beat - I honestly thought it'd be coming back on a trunk
But there's a few niggles - mostly electrics
- headlights mysteriously disappear intermittently when going from high to low beam - think its the relay (anyone got one for sale?)
- when the headlights do work, they're absolutely CRAP - going to clean/polish the lights and reseal them( the offside one is like an aquarium at the moment..) , but what options to I have with brighter bulbs etc?
- alarm doesn't work - going to rip it out tho, so thats fine
- rear nearside wheel bearing is making an interesting noise, take it they're fairly easy to get? any difficultly with it being an import for parts?
- the brakes were "interesting" on the trackday, faded completely and had smoke pouring off them - so again, what options are there?
- when I press really hard on the brakes now there's a hideous grinding noise from under the bonnet.. the sort of noise that you usually go, "yeah it'll be fine don't worry about it..."
apart from that, its not bad for a 20year old datsun!
