  1. Had the same problem with my brake pipes last year and was told the same thing. I took it to my local friendly mechanic (who also does MOT's) and he managed to replace the bad bits of pipe by just removing the diff and getting in there somehow as he didn't fancy dropping the whole rear axle. Anyway he did it, passed it and it was fine, went through the MOT again this year without a hitch. Still cost me nearly £300 to get it done though :( Gaz

  4. I was driving back from Stowmarket in my Z and spotted you turning up the Barking road. Followed you a few cars back until you turned off into Foxglove Avenue. Was that you steevo ? Gaz
  5. £175 for the door rubber and £40 for the bit on the Targa ........ plus VAT. Well that's what I paid recently. I tried various things to get rid of the leak, in the end decided the best thing was to do it properly and replace the rubber. It was a pretty straight forward job and no more leak. You might be able to get a second hand one cheaper, but I wouldn't reccommend it as there's one corner that has some sticky pads, so not sure they'd work as well second hand. Gaz
  6. Spotted at about 5.20pm on the one way system near Cineworld. Had those Ferrari style rear lights and looked in good nick. Belong to anyone on here? Gaz
  7. When I first got mine it had a wobbly rear end. It was more noticeable over bumps and on one particular stretch of road. I'm sure it felt worse than it looked from behind. The fix for me was 2 new Hicas ball joints, luckily it was the outer ones. Gaz
  8. If you want to do the resistor mod then it's the R10 resistor and the 33K ohm one needs to be replaced with a 20K ohm one. It's not to bad a job as long as you're ok with a soldering iron. Took me not much more than an hour to do and that included removing the clocks. Gaz

  10. Thanks for heads up guys. I got the new door and targa rubber today so fitted them. Poured water over the roof and hey presto no drips on the seat so that's one job done, but noticed water p**sing into the drivers footwell via my fuse box again. Took it all apart and found it was indeed the targa pipe that had disconnected from the tube that takes the water out near the wing, so it was pouring into the car instead. It was a hell of a job to get it back, the tube had shrunk (I assume with age) and no amount of pulling got is near the outlet pipe. I ended up cutting some of the outlet pipe and using this to connect an extension to the tube. Anyway, a bit of a Heath Robinson job, but it works and no more water leaking into the fuse box. I now have the carpet up and the dehumidifier running in the car. So thanks once again, it would've taken ages to find the problem without the pointers. Gaz

  13. The pipes at the rear are a real pig to do so I'm not suprised most garages won't touch them as it's often a case of dropping the rear end to get to them. I don't know anyone in your area, but keep looking as I just got mine done last month and after a few problems finding somewhere to do it, I got the mechanic 400 yards up the road to do it. He didn't seem phased at all and just removed the rear diff to get in there, but he did swear a bit afterwards about the job. I just had the rear pipes replaced and got some braided brake hoses fited at the same time and it was about 10 hours labour. Gaz
  14. The one inisde the drivers footwell, it's all very wet in there and the connectors had water dripping out of them when I pulled them apart. Is this likely to be coming in through the scuttle somewhere or windscreen or is there another likely reason? anyone had a similar problem before. The long story ........... I found the problem because my battery kept going flat after a few days, it was fine if I drove it every day. Anyway I did a bit of experimenting and thought I had an altenator fault, but my multimeter told me a different story. Battey was 12V and altenator was charging at 14.3V when the engine was running. So I turned everything off and checked to see how much current was being drawn with the ignition off. I was suprised to find 1.7A !!!!. So I started pulling everyhting apart and thought I'd pull the fuses one by one ......... until I heard a hissing noise, you know the sort that makes you think hmmmm that doesn't sound good. Started to disconnect the cables around the fuse box to find water dripping out of the connectors and then the hissing stop. So I think I've found my long term electrical problem, green plugs and lots of short ccts. Now I just need to rectify it. My driver side targa has also started to leak after I took the lid off for a day a couple of weeks ago :cry: new rubbers all round me thinks :cry: :cry: Gaz
