  1. Hello all need some advice. After many years I am finally going to start to get the car back on the road. The car was taken off the road when the clutch release bearing went in 2006, bought a replacement as well as new lightened flywheel and upgraded clutch, but many things got in the way of doing the work (lost job, owning money when back at work, repeat several times, and a drop in interests at times). Now nearly 10 years later the time has come to get the car back on the road, the question is what do I do? The car has been sitting in a garage (located under the house and doesn't change temp as much as the outside), The gearbox is currently off as is the clutch and flywheel, and any associated parts to remove said items. The car hasn't had oil in the engine for a couple/few years, I drained to coolant yesterday as well as removed to radiator. I did this after the suggestion a couple of weeks ago by my father that it might be better to remove the engine, strip it and rebuild it, rather then put the gearbox, clutch etc back on, refill with new oil and water and hope for the best. The engine does not appear to be seized as I can turn it using the crankshaft and a socket set. Nothing such as pipes and rubber seem to have perished over time. So what would anyone suggest I do? Flush out remaining engine coolant, maybe replace any seals, such as on gearbox?. Replace all items not on car, and try to start it. Or Go with the fathers idea of removing engine and rebuilding, replacing all seals, belts (only had 60,000 service done-800 miles before going off the road) nuts and bolt etc. What items are a yes to NEEDING to be replaced and what are any suggested items? Many thanks in advance Lee

  6. Finally got the zed on the road after 4 months doing all the fully adjustable suspension just in time for a holiday to devon, car made it there and back and the ride was great, 2 days later the clutch goes. Time for upgrading, going to get a lightened flywheel and uprated clutch, what other things are best to change whilst the gearbox is off, would prefer to get uprated parts if possible? Cheers Lee
