thanks vodkashots, just what i was thinking, this is the reply i got when i asked how it broke. i was breaking at the time before a road bump and the car just switched off i tried turning the key but it wouldn't start, i called up AA and was told by them that it was the timing belt after their driver had a look at the engine area, i done some research on the internet and have got to know that mine is not a integrated system so there shouldn't be no internal damage. i have googled this subject and 99% of the answers i got say it has damaged the valve's

seen a 300zx NA for sale with a broken cambelt, just wondered if this will have caused any engine damage, or should i steer clear and keep looking for another one {car} thanks for taking time to read my post.

think i am going to give this one a miss and look for another one, i too have asked questions about the said car had one answer which i didn't really understand.

i thought it was a good price, been looking for another 300 as i miss my old one, anyone any idea on the gearbox fault? if i remember rightly they are controlled by there own ECU could this be the problem or is it more likely to be the gearbox itself?
