  1. This may sound like a daft question, but i read somewhere that with the memebership came like a membership pack etc.... am i talking out of my backside, As i havent recieved one is all..... Cheers James
  2. This guy speaks sense, Really the only way is to use an anti carbonation coating on your steel....
  3. I suppose some of that is true, The "carrier" i described earlier is infact an electolite which is needed for the reaction to take place. As i mentioned its about making a circuit with no breaks, thats where the issue arrises. cars bodys or chassis are not one continous panel or piece, neither are they free fron other grounding wires or ant carbination coatings etc. I can honestly say thats just clever marketing.. You cant account for relative Humididty as its constantly changing. You also have the practicality of keeping that "Strip" bone dry. There just a few of the issues. Think of it this way... if you could use a few realtively inexspensive annodes to completely protect a car. They would already be used by the mcfr's and in wide circulation for the rust proofing of older cars Ive just chekced on there website what they are claiming. And to be fair they are rightintroducing a positive electrical charge will stop that piece of metal from rusting. HOWEVER and its a big however. In order to make this work. you would have to impress the electrical charge throught the entirety of the vehicle. Either by multiple charges or one interconnecting strip (this is impossible by the way in cars) Essentially you would need to positively charge albeit relatively low charge every bit of metal on the vehicle independantly. Hope this helps J
  4. Cathodic Protection will never be able to be used in cars unfortuantely. These type of applications such as sacrifical annodes need a carrier to make the circuit. In ship building its continued submerging in the water itself which makes the circuit allowing the Sacrificial Annodes (normally made from Zinc) then as above post suggests corrode instead. Part of my Job involves the cathodic protection of superstructures. Id love for something to exist i could apply to the Z, well infact any car as id make a fortune... LOL Unfortuantely its not soemthing that can work on cars....
  5. LOL, Right update for all who are interested, I rang MY house ins company to see if vice versa i was covered, and they said yes under them circumstances they would pay to repair the neighbours proerty.. So all good atm. Lets just hope his ins company arnt french or summat. J
  6. any chance you can paste it for me as work have a filter which stops me accessing Yahoo.. J
  7. From what i can gather it should cover it as its the same as if roof tiles came off and hit someone elses shed etc. But either way ive rang my car ins co this morning and logged it just incase i have to go through them. Im sure they thought i was taking the P1ss..... the bloke was like "Really?? A trampoline on your car" Hmmm. Cheers... J
  8. Just thought as it is so random id share. Got a knock on the front door Sunday morning. My sheepish looking next door neighbour, asked me to come outside..... Once outside i was greeted by the unusual site of a 12ft trampoline embedded into the front of my z :( :( not a happy chap as you can imagine. Basically becuase he had not taken it down, it had somersaulted down his garden over his fence and landed on my car. In the process denting the bonnet, the centre panel and near side wing. He said hes going to claim through his house insurance and ive asked Jeff to do me a quote for the repair and respray as i know it will be done right. I rekon with the luck im having with this Z i must have drowned kittens or something in a previous life :( J
  9. Threads like these are what makes me happy to be part of this community!!
  10. IMHO, I dont know anyone here personally yet, but from what ive seen, i can see both points of view. I think no matter how Jeff said it, it was always going to be difficult for it not to look like sour grapes... I think the bottom line is that Jeff has to look after Z worlds Business interests to the best of his ability. it is after all his livelyhood. I also agree that it is everyones perogative to buy parts as and when they see fit... I definately agree with the idea that as a buyer you offset the cost now against future cost implications if the product is poor quality you pay twice etc.... Chance you take i suppose.... Either way, i dont think there is an easy answer, i just hope for everyone it gets sorted to everyones satisfaction. Cheers J
  11. Yeah i bled in the order the manual linked to earlier said.....
  12. Right chaps. having successfully bled the brakes and not set anything on fire or rounded any bolts :-) its not a massively complicated job after all. i dont think they had been bled in some time...... :-( fluid looked like engine oil. The operation of the brakes themselves is so much better i cant tell you.... my dad told me that my recent issues were probably caused by me boiling the brake fluid due to excessively heavy braking..... Hes my dad he would say that lol :-). one thing i did notice is that whilst bleeding the brakes every time my dad depressed the pedal i could here a sucking/squirting sound. the reseviour was full each time. i cant see any obvious signs of a leak but it has me worried none the less. is this a normal sound assosiated with bleeding the brakes on the z? or is it time to get jeff on it? cheers ps remind me to not pick the coldest day of the year to do that next time lol
  13. Fastest ive had outa the Z is 150mph, Fastest ive been is in my old Audi S8. It just couldnt aerodynamically past 172mph
  14. Superb, Thanks alot! The car needs a number of jobs doing, im hoping to get it to Jeff for a couple of new turbo's, pulleys, and piston rings this year. So anything i can do myself im trying to crack on with. My Projects for this month are Brake Bleed ( Master Cylinder if Needed) Cleaning the throttle bodies PCV Valve Replacement New Air Filter Thanks again James
  15. Hi All, My brakes are very spongy atm, having had it up on ramps i cant see any issues with discs or pads, also car has braided hoses. Im planning on bleeding the brakes on sat. but cant find a how to anywhere depsite searching. There are also conflicting views on which order to do it in. If you can help can you please advise the following; 1, How much brake fluid does the reseviour hold.? 2, Does it need a specific brake fluid or will any do? 3, In what order is it best to bleed them? 4, Perhaps a link to a how to for replacing the master cylinder???? (Just incase) Thanks James
  16. yeah, Clarkson has a clause in his contract prohibiting him from doing anything car related without the bbc. They kicked up a fuss but didnt want the bad publicity so agreed to let tom tom sell the ones they made, but donate the proceeds to charity..
  17. Keep them clarkson tom toms lads as they got banned by the bbc, so all the proceeds are being donated to charity...... The run they have made is the only editions they will do.
  18. MY Z is my daily runner although in the snow ill take the mrs's Micra, however this morning i left NO SNOW, withing minutes i couldnt see much....... By the time i got to work id ammassed a huge queue behind me, tough luck all those behind me , but it was V slippery. Im looking out of the window now and its snowed solid for the last 3 hours :( I think i may leaver her in the warehouse tonight, and take the pool car.... J
  19. On my way home tonight the ambient temp dropped from 1 to -21 im guessing is i dont have frostbite its a faulty wire / sensor. Can anyone tell me do i need to remove the front bumber to get to it or can i do it with the bumber in situe?/ Cheers James
  20. Was about to say, if anywhere stick it in the ashtray :) :)
  21. Nice one mate, i absolutley love the sort of gun metal grey detailing....... Little things make that massive difference. Looks smart. J
  22. So does anyone have any suggestions for things i can try? without spending huge amounts of money. Or certainly try to narrow it down... Cheers James
