A sad thread
I am not my usual rambling self today. I just wanted to say thanks ian for being there and doing us the honour of being first in line after the limos. Also for having zeb looking stunning, i hate to think how much polishing you had done there. As we sat in the funeral limo at home getting ready to set off, i was thinking how good the limo sounded, then there was a throttle blip and i realised it was actually zebedee doing the talking. Mandy would have loved to have seen zeb there, though knowing her she would have had them in front of the limos. I havent got any decent words, i can hardly string sentences together today. So thank you to ian for yesterday, it meant a lot to both mine and mandys family, and thank you for the words you have all shared in here.

A sad thread
I am sorry to have to be writing this, but Mandy passed away last night. I know she loved you guys and she was always talking about either individual owners or their cars all the way to the end. She was always someone who deserved better than me, and you lot being the competition i could never measure up to always made me smile. I wish i had better words today, sorry. The trophy she won last year still has pride of place on her mothers mantel piece, its the only thing on there in fact.

A MASSIVE Thank you to Roobarb
Couldnt have gone to a better guy. Not seen someone so happy to have the keys to a z since Mandy brought zeb home. Awesome car and hope he's as good to you as he was to Mandy.

Crash helmet
It should have read 'based on the Simpson bandit RX' not rex. I cannot edit posts so this was the only way to correct it. I still haven't worked out how to do multi quotes on the iPad either while on the forum, so sorry for the individual answers. Roobarb said if I didn't answer Toni ht I wouldn't get fed tomorrow, so hopefully these are good enough for now.

Crash helmet
Top of my head I can't remember the company. I will post it up tomorrow if I get chance. They do the job to order. They already did the clowns on the bandit fighter 2 (there were two versions of the clowns and I obviously chose the one I liked, well, the other half had input too, which was surprising as she hates clowns). Process was choose helmet and specify design, pay the guy and wait four to six weeks for it to be done. Cost is based on what you want and any extra work. moving on, the bandit fighter 2 is street legal if memory serves (and cheaper than mine, but with a larger visor area). There was nothing to stop a buyer designing their own for him to do, but I really liked the clown I got, so job done. The back of the helmet is also personalised with some other flashy artwork rather than just being a totally white helmet. The only reason I haven't shown the back is because I want to keep mine unique to me while breaking up the sea of white. It would have worked fine just as a clown, but I wanted more. I was already taking a bit of a gamble in having the job done on an XXR as it wasn't the usual target for the clown face. He did a good job though so no complaints. The actual bare helmets are here for anyone wanting more info on shapes and styles (and legalities for countries and states etc). http://www.bandithelmets.co.uk/

Crash helmet
Erm... Nice helmet isn't it? Anyway, what was the question? Erm... Nope, memory like a sieve me. All joking aside, the bandit Alien 2 is similar and is legal for uk use. Albeit there could be potential issue with dark visors and the painted visors.

Forgot to add, for those who don't already know, I am Roobarbs other half.

Crash helmet
Peripheral vision is fine for me. Only time it could possibly be even hinted at being less is when you turn your head to look behind when getting ready to set off. It is only noticeable then. Oherwise it's fine. I should say though, its not a Simpson (too expensive to justify it for the use I had in mind as this isn't my 24/7 helmet). It's a Bandit XXR. Based on the Simpson rex shell if memory serves. If I had to say anything negative about the helmet, it would be the inability to shut off the vents and the draught on your face. But a neck warmer or refit of the visor may cure that. Only time will tell.

Anyone watching the opening ceramony?
I missed it too, but then again, I gave up watching them walk past at B, walked in briefly again at J then gave up altogether. http://www.opposingviews.com/i/sports/other-sports/2012-olympics-opening-ceremony-video-here-guy-giving-nazi-salute

Anyone watching the opening ceramony?
so the olympics are in the UK and we have to have frog speak BEFORE our own language. We should have told them to take a running jump. Anyway, am I the only one to notice that Lisa Simpson is missing from all the stadium footage? it seems the only 2012 logo is a simple set of 4 digits? were the people in charge worried that the rest of the world might see Lisa giving a BJ?

Top Gear - Christmas Special
I must be getting old, all I saw was them ruin a couple of cars that actually looked ok for no real reason. Why they couldnt ruin a couple of 'reasonably priced cars' instead of a running XJS that resolutely fought to the end and didnt break down, a nice mini and a roller (never been a big fan of them but it looked ok), it just seemed to be a shame. I almost feel like one of the damned marina owners at the moment as they seemed to just kill off some ok old cars for the hell of it. That and it was genuinely getting boring by the end of the program. like I said, getting old.

one good reason why not to use your phone when driving
and people changing the radio, and eating crisps, and talking to other people in the car, and dealing with screaming kids in the back, and putting their makeup on, and and and and

dont even want to go near push bikes side of things, jumping red lights, clipping your car as they squeeze past, stopping a line of cars as they bumble down the middle of the road. aaaargghhhh

one good reason why not to use your phone when driving
initially it works. then it gets people talking which in the eyes of the road safety goons no doubt means it works too. but then it starts off the whole 'it was because it was a speeding biker' 'it was a woman driver' 'it was someone on a phone' 'it was a miserable day and a butterfly was just squashed in venezuela' type shyte. Staged, most definitely. but things like this happen all too often. Train drivers get stones, bricks, lumps of masonry and even steel bars thrown at them all year round, when a car or truck gets hit by something on the motorway it is big news as it is something regular people can relate to. This imagery does exactly the same and hammers a point home that it could happen to you. thats about it really, after that its all downhill as far as this particular codswallop goes. Personally, I prefer the way the Aussies do things. all codswallop but done in a way that really sticks in your head

I apologise up front if this (or my last) comment upsets anyone, not looking to cause trouble here. But before anyone else jumps on the filtering bandwagon (and I have no idea what advert is being mentioned here by the way), filtering on a bike is NOT illegal. forgetting all the issues of danger, it is still allowed but depends heavily on what speeds are involved as to whether it can be done. The designs of many cars these days make spotting bikes ever harder with thicker pillars and wider areas of steel in an attempt by car manufacturers to make the roor and car itself more solid in case of crashes. Most bikers are on full alert when filtering, but no matter how careful a rider is, there is no defence from a car driver who does a quick glance in their rearview mirror then changes lane. Taking filtering out of the equation altogether, I have had to swerve out of the way on numerous occasions from cars on dual lane roads suddenly deciding to move and not seeing (or hearing) that the bike was there. I am not defending the biker for his speed, it would be like saying that you guys with your 300 bhp fire breathing monsters never ever went over a speed limit, but from a percentage of blame side of things, it is pretty clear that this womans stupidity caused the issue of giving the bike nowhere to go. You hear so many times how a biker has been killed by someone pulling out of a side street onto a main road (I have lost 2 friends to this very thing over the years), at least in this case (and I am sorry if this sounds callous) the person that pulled out paid the price as well.

Yeah, and I make a point of never using my phone while riding my bike either

I'm sure nigerian scammers used to be far more convincing
will just have to go with 'I would love to see their faces when they had to open and examine the contents' still works for me
-
I'm sure nigerian scammers used to be far more convincing
customs have it too easy anyway. love to see their faces when they opened it to inspect it. especially if it didnt have anything to concern them, they would have to repack it and send it on as inspected

be careful with light grey. My BM has Smoked chrome colour, if they are even slightly dirty they look, well, dirty. Really dirty. Need to keep them spotless to keep the effect

List you're really good films
man on fire :thumbup1: and Taken. actually think taken is better. whoever said human centipede, go and see a shrink, they are seriously disturbing, they make 'dead girl' look tame. Terminator 1 and 2, and Alien/aliens (directors cuts obviously), dont watch any alien after the second though, all pants. AVP is easy going and watchable though. Top gun, cheezie but still good, and ignore the migs that arent migs. The thing (1980s) and the new 'the thing (2011) watch the 2011 first, it ties in perfectly with the old one as the 2011 film is a prequel. Galaxy quest (funny film if you like scifi) wild things (old film but great twists and turns all the way) usual suspects (awesome film) are we allowed to say the matrix (only the first one though) A history of violence (great film) iron man (first is better than the 2nd) all the bourne films and finally, that sick one where the holiday people were getting kidnapped and sold to highest bidder to get killed and mutilated in some big factory. forgot its name, bit sick but a good film nonetheless
