  1. This is my second ZX .Original one visibly modified and serviced in Maldon - eventually stolen and never seen again. Almost immediately bought this one which was in lovely condition. One day blew cylinder head gasket - Maldon crew out of business by then so had used a local Scottish garage for servicing etc which was fine. Garage took it in but eventually said as they couldn't get it running properly must have suffered overheating damage - agreed engine import and replace. This was eventually done after very long delay but car started to misfire day after returned to me. Electronics guy sent up to home to analyse, did some work .We went out for test drive and it ran perfectly. Next day same inconsistent firing. Gave up on that garage and gave it to another one on the recommendation of another ZX member. Unfortunately they were even less efficient than the first garage so Eventually I got it trailers back . By that stage having paid for replacement engine and fitting I gave up in disgust and the poor beast has been sitting in my driveway ever since. It is now at best a restoration project for anyone who has the time ,expertise and desire to get it back on the road in looking as it should. I have a spare set of original wheels and tyres from my first modified car and the original exhaust system which was replaced by full race Maldon kit. These can be part of any deal. It's clearly not a buy and drive away job so only enquire if you are interested in restoring or buying and trailering away for parts scavenging. Everything original except fitted with Race Logic traction control Black leather interior, auto box most of original tool kit . Also have for sale an almost A1 condition book Called " Nissan 300ZX The Enthusiasts Companion ". This was first published in 1990 .It's 112 pages, divided int 6 chapters covering: 1. Development of the new 300ZX 2.Technical Analysis. 3.Making Nissaan's sports car. 4.Road Test - The variants assessed. 5.Z - car history 6. A racing certainty a look at the Z's racing program Would prefer to sell the book with the car but am open to best offer from anyone . Last but not least why has it taken me so long to sell ? I not only loved driving the Z's I love to look at them. Now it saddens me to see such a beautiful car just wasting away and I am too old now to have the energy for the job and it would be better enjoyed by someone who has still the urge to travel fast in comfort and style - Sadly I'm now only into the last two.
  2. Overw Thanks for your messages and encouragement, overwhelmed by the friendly response. You guys are tempting me to start this as a project but I think it's probable a job too far for me especially as I really don't know if it's in good enough shape to try and save. PS You underestimate the Fiat Turbo coupe at your peril its a seriously fast car and made mincemeat of my Honda S2000 in any gear -if you want a smaller Zx to run around in this Fiat is a great fun 2nd car
  3. am in Eaglesham so not far away- your making me think
  4. Sandy have put my car on the Cars for Sale thread but your offer made me think can I do the work myself. What sort of help is available locally ie I stay just outside East Kilbride,is there anyone eg who could advise on the condition of the chassis area etc ?
  5. Sandy Wish I had known that a few years ago as since I stopped getting the car serviced in Maldon Essex after Silva Engineering shut down, I've not been able to find anyone in Scotland capable of dealing with the car. Too late now I am afraid as the funds I would need have to go elsewhere (like my youngest son ) so if it can give someone else pleasure I will be delighted - I have to admit though there is not a day goes past when I don't look at it and think ..well maybe...
  6. Thanks Unfortunately joining to put sell notification in - don't want to sell but circumstances dictate its the sensible thing to do - your red car looks just like mine did in its prime and your black one just like the one I had stolen - I was told by the CID it almost certainly ended up being shipped abroad - had Tracker on board but it made no difference
  7. Actually joined as a member many years ago and used the site agree with what you say about membership. Lost note of username password etc and as I have had many email addresses over the years don't know which email address I originally used - hence the need to join again. Will try using PayPal and see how I get on Thanks
  8. vodkashorts, thanks for that. I did a search (obviously not thorough enough ) and didn't find anything about paying a subscription to sell ( can you point me to it). I appreciate the point you made and am happy to pay the £20 - can I do that on site what is the quickest easiest way ?
  9. what do you mean subscribed - I am a member what else is required?
  10. Hi, I have an M registered automatic ZX , full leather , targa top. The car is my second the original was stolen after much work was done at Maldon. A few years ago the ZX blew a gasket which started a train of events ( basically let down badly by 2 garages) and I became so disenchanted I have sincelet the car sleep at the side of the house. As the ZX has always been and still is my favourite car I have never had the heart to sell it despite realising that at 64 I am probably too old to own it and no longer have the funds :wheelchair::wheelchair:(grandchildren see to that ) to fund the necessary repairs. What prompted me to look at it again was an article in the May edition of Banzai featuring a beautifully rebuilt 1200hp zx. I must say I was tempted to restart the love affair but my wife has persuaded me that my Fiat coupe turbo is fun enough for someone my age
