wood car ramps
I found the solution years ago - railway sleepers! So I bought 4 of them, laid them out in my garage at the track width for the Z32, and built myself a really shallow ramp for each side - about 6ft in length, I guess. I also cut a length of wood to the width of the track of the car, so I can always check that the sleepers haven't moved. Keeps them parallel too. The sleepers raise it about 10 inches (every time I put the car away - usually front first), which means that any time I want to check anything underneath, no sweat, zoom in on a wheelie-recliner. A highly recommended solution! Bought sleepers from a railway maintenance yard. Quite cheap. IF you can still find some wooden ones.

cambelt - mileage or time?
I wonder if anyone has views on this situation. My UK Z32 had a replacement Jap engine fitted 20,000 miles ago, when a new cambelt was fitted. That was 8 years ago (OK, so I only use the car for special, rather than as a daily driver). The question is - with only 20k miles on that belt, does it NEED to be changed? If the time interval is also critical, that would mean that even at rest with the engine switched off, the belt is under stress. Is that really true?? I heard of some Australian research (sorry, lost reference) that claimed the time element was in fact irrelevant - the important factor is the engine running time, eg mileage. Anyone got any views on this? Much appreciated, thanks, Peter Edinburgh

Jedburgh today
Hi Guys - Sorry for delay in posting these extra pics, had trouble with my camera / USB. All OK now. As well as the general pics in Jedburgh, I got some nice 'in car' stuff on the way down the A68. BUT - sorry for this, but will someone please assist me in sticking the pics in this email - how is it done? I see that I am not permitted to post attachments, so how? cheers, peter edinburgh

Plan for Jedburgh meet
The Jedburgh car park - silly me - I pass it every other week! It is at the south end (English side) of Jedburgh, A68. Bags of space. Good photographic locations (stream, ruined abbey in background). Bogs too! peter

Plan for Jedburgh meet
Dreghorn - good meeting place, I should be there about 11.0, yes? But don't buy your petrol there - not sure what their prices are, but the Esso station just south of Dalkeith on the A68 has been consistently the cheapest in the whole of Edinburgh district for weeks. Last Monday it was 87.9 litre. Venue in Jedburgh SOUNDS like the big parking area in front of the blue-rinse special (the tartan / Scottish kitch tourist) shops... peter

Meet/cruise 10/07/05
Er, did it happen? I was in Kelty at 10.0 - saw nobody. Saw plenty of steel fences and police later that morning when trying to drive up to Crief.... peter.r

Yes, I think this could be on for me too, just have to check a couple of diary things. 240 is a full tank, and that excludes getting to/from start/finish. Five hours could be optimistic. Very slow roads round Crief (well, not so much the roads, rather traffic slowing one down). Sunday traffic can be a real drag... Peter Edinburgh

Scottish meet
Just a quick comment if we get several Zs together. The pics taken at the Stirling service station mightily impressed a US Z32 friend of mine. He was amazed that there were so many Zs in Scotland (cheek...). How about trying for a squadron of Zs all line abreast, across all lanes on a motorway, pictured from the front and back? It would require careful arranging, but could look very impressive.... Peter Edinburgh

Scottish members
I bought mine from Courtesy Nissan, Texas, USA. About half the price of UK units. As I recall, UK about £110. Call me for further details if required. Peter Edinburgh

Scottish meet
Yup. count me in too. Late June preferred. Anywhere, but with a manual box, would NOT run Crail (lets be serious, to be competitive with a clutch, you gotta drop it / replace it!). But I would still come along too. Trossacks? Yes, nice, we could enjoy ourselves mixing with the tourist traffic (on second thoughts...) Peter.
