New Zed owner needs help, 300zx constantly cutting out!!
Jus to let everyone know who helped or gave advice, I got a second hand afm the other day, and fitted it to the zed on thursday, needless to say since then its been running sweet as a nut, no cutting out , no problems at all, the afm cost me £100 so not too bad at all, on saturday i even dared to take it on quite a long drive to look at a new car for my brother, it was 330 miles round trip in total, and not one problem with the car at all just set the cruise control and away we went :):) Thanks again for all your help guys!

New Zed owner needs help, 300zx constantly cutting out!!
cheers for that Dave C, my next question was going to be is it worth taking it out and cleaning the MAF/connector itself, obviously it is :):) i will give it a go because it is an intermittant problem and definately not failing all the time. I plan to do this on sunday, where will i find the MAF, and does anyone have any engine bay pics showing its location?? I am new to this, so please bear with me. Once again Many Thanks in Advance, Vern]

thanx guys that certainly has helped me and promptly too! :):) Iis it an easy job to replace the AFM then, can i do it myself? Also bit of a question, when i brought the 300 i didn't realise that the insurance for the twin turbo version is only and ext 250-300 a year and considering i am 21 thats pretty reasonable, i would like to go to manual aswell do you think this is a good idea? Also is there many parts/tuning i can apply to mine to increase performance?? What is the subscription fee and what additional benefits are there to it??

New Zed owner needs help, 300zx constantly cutting out!!
Hi guys this is my first post on here so first of all hello to eveyone!! Ok heres my story, i have recently brought a 1991 Japanese import 2+2, Automatic, Targa Top, Non-Turbo, Nissan 300zx. I am well impressed with it accept for one problem, the car will cut out at ramdm times. It will sometimes cut out when idling, sometimes when your driving along. When your driving along it sometimes loses power then dies, sometime you canloses power then then it seems like its going to cut out but doesn;t quite, however now most if not all of the power is gone, the car will not rev above 2,500rpm or it judders and and the revs drop. This even happens in neutral, i can sit there with the car in neutral, with my foot welded to the floor and it will not climb above 2,500rpm before it revs down again, similar to the rev limiter at the top of the rev band. :headvswal :headvswal I have run the diagnostics test shown here :- http://www.ttzd.com/tech/diagnostictech.html i understand this is for the twin turbo version but i thought it would be the same, please correct me if i am wrong. As a result i appear to be getting this code "12*: air flow meter circuit". Does anybody have any other useful information for me or advice and does this seem like the sort of problem that this air flow meter circuit could cause?? or does anyone have any other suggestions?? If anyone needs any further info from me please feel free to ask. Any help is greatly appreciated, Many Thanks in advance, Vern]
