Guys, I started to remove the engine from my Z yesterday and have removed all the ancillaries and got to the point where I've unbolted the engine mounts (each side of engine). Prop is still in gearbox at the moment (how does this come out - does it just pull out?) Is there a mount at the back of engine? If so, where? I can't seem to see it. Anything else? I'm trying to remove it with gearbox attached - do I need to drop subframe? Cheers

Go with iron x as pablito says then clay, then polish. If you're going to do it, do it properly ;) Going straight in with polish will simply induce more scratches by moving around all the particles on the paint. You need to remove them first. Depending how bad it is and what clay you're using you may need 2 hits with the clay. Just be patient. Guys, I've just started taking the seats put of my '92 LWB to replace with leather. Before I rip the passenger seat to bits to utilise the electrics on the leather I'd like to kow if the old seats are actually worth selling? They're the blue velour type material driver and passenger electric. I don't want to take all the electrics off the seat if I could sell them to fund something else you see :)

Hey daffy, Claying is a must before polishing. Ellodave is right with some clays ou can just use way instead of lube. I currently use the CleanYourCar Own brand poly clay along with mega last touch. I buy the last touch in the 5l bottles so diluted it lasts ages and is multi purpose so very handy to have. As for wax/sealant - use whatever was you have for now. Once yo get in to it you'll start looking for waxes that off different things. Some offer a deeper shine, whereas some offer longer protection. Sealants are now very good and offer the longest protection if your not in to applying very often. Fk1000p as mentioned by ellodave is one of the most popular. AG HD wax is also good. Pretty much anything by Dodo Juice. And a surprise entry which has been around for years and years and is still very highly rated in terms of finish is Megs #16 wax - dirt cheap too!!

Ok, so i personally would spend a little more (not much more) and go with this kit http://www.i4detailing.co.uk/acatalog/Kestrel_DAS-6_Megs_Kit_2_1.html This Megs combo is very highly rated, and can give superb results. It's just a polishing kit, so you will end up spending a bit more on cloths, and wax - but you may already have these? It can get an expensive game so be warned ;) You may want to consider getting some spare pads too, as you can get varying rates of cut with the polish buy using a softer pad, but once you've used the softer pad for cutting you shouldn't use it for polishing. Hope that makes sense... Also, just a couple more questions to get you thinking of more stuff to buy :) lol Are you using a 2x bucket method of washing? Do you have clay? Do you have a wax or sealant Edit: I'd like to add, that the first kit you linked to will more than likely be fine for your needs. It all depends on what level of finish you want to achieve (and maintain). :)

It's a very popular machine amongst detailers. It's a Dual action though, not a rotary. If you're new to machine polishing that it's a great choice (being dual action) as rotary machines can be a bit of a handful if you're not used to them and you can end up causing more damage. Nice pads included too. There's better polishes, but as a starter kit that's pretty decent.

if you're going on your own then do it! I've never done it, but have always wanted to. No idea why, just seems like a cool thing to do. lol if you do it, just make sure you get an early flight so you have enough time to find a hotel though ;)

I don't wear hoodies, but do agree with you about people being prejudice. I personally like it when you go in to a shop in your scruffs and it is quite clear the staff don't think you can afford their prices etc. it makes me want to buy it more. Lol I also hate how in some shops the staff act as if they are higher class than you just because they work there. People puzzle me!
