  1. I fitted a new expensive heavy-duty battery four weeks ago and have had it on trickle charge over this cold spell. I was going out for a drive this morning turned the key and the instrument lights began flickering, I didn’t even bother trying to start the car I guessed the battery was flat, I checked the voltage it read 7.4v. it was 13.2v. when fitted. I know the cold weather is bad for batteries but this shouldn’t have happened, should it?
  2. Potholes really bad for my Z. either rattles lose a battery terminal ptu or ecu terminal and we stall; I also seem to have mighty rigid suspension which loosens your fillings over a bump.
  3. very cold down here +4
  4. Blimey I seem to be a fossil, only just though! Please don’t let me be the oldest one on the site. I had my first Z in 1990 a white one with a navy blue interior a company car brand new from the dealer; those were the days!
  5. As has been said snow chains not much good for this country. One year I tried tyres with screw in studs on my Disco, only to be pulled over by the law, as they were illegal on UK roads. They tend to shred the tarmac. Best option is to buy a set of cheap winter wheels from the back pages of a 4x4 mag.
  6. No snow here yet. I have just mowed the lawns and washed the car, t-shirt and shorts weather, like a spring day.
  7. Good advice, my dog and cat are always nosing around when I am working on the car. I did notice the cat was more than interested when I was topping up the antifreeze. I hope I kept him away, bit worried now. I hope scampi makes it.
  8. Temp gauge on steering column. a neat unit.
  9. Funny you should mention this I have a digital oil temp gauge and during the week it has gone mad. It ranges from 72 to 100+ when on a run. It just gives random readouts. When it was working it never went over 82.
  10. I have been told its national curry week next week. Your choice sounds good. Here is mine … Popadom and pickles Duck achary with extra chillies Mushroom rice Keema nan Sag aloo Shame this Friday night is Pizza and beer night.
  11. Oh nearly forgot an MX5!!!, an old one with flip up lights, the lad pulled up at the lights with a determined look, he nodded and revved up indicating he was up for a race. Brothers and sisters I smoked it goooood! Didn’t even see it in my mirrors. A Ferrari hmmm! Not seen one of those in my neighbourhood.
  12. Over the last couple of weeks a Z4 Sport, 911 Carrera 3.8, Jaguar XK 4.2 and an old but feisty Camaro 3.8 all easy drags from traffic lights on the local dual carriage way. But I admit to being beaten by a 04 Reg Ford Streetka 1.6i as my car stalled yet again!!! I was so annoyed I ripped a branch from a nearby tree and gave the car a good thrashing, and a harsh talking too, had no problems since. Honest, I really do not hammer the car just enjoy the occasional burst of speed.
  13. It gets worse. You wonder what c**p we are going to have to take next! I am not sure if you can say crap here? I think they are very deluded as to the difference between hell and paradise. Their paradise must be a hateful place because they will be there; it would be utter hell to us.
  14. Nice collection. Could you let me know what kind of money we are talking about there are a couple of auto art models I would like. Oh, and er um the mustang for a friend.
