  2. Feel a bit of a traitor for posting these pics, so I'll put em here and hope no one notices :innocent: It is, of course, a manual! And yes, would be tempted by a Scooby or an Evo eventually - but I like RWD best.. Did you say you're based in Lincoln now? It's only a quick blast up the A46 from Leicester.. We should meet up some time!
  3. Well, what can I say - I've just spent 30 minutes reading your whole thread.. Epic mate. Big round of applause for your engineering skills and perseverance. The satisfaction it's given you must be immense. I would love to jump in for a ride once you're happy with the setup etc. As for me, I took the easy option and bought an E46 M3 CS. I was about 30 minutes away from buying a Porsche Cayman, but it sold before I got there, so I came home with the BMW instead.. Just scratching a few car itches now.. Need to tick off V8, V10 & V12.. Although the V8 and V10 will probably be the most fun.. I'll miss my Zed, but I won't miss the hassle of looking after an old car! I'll be keeping in touch with the new owner to see how he gets on! Anyway, great work Adam - I'm glad to see this forum is still inhabited by guys with skill and backbone in equal measure!
  4. Thanks Gary - looks like I'm a member again!
  5. Hey Hollings! How do indeedy! Good thanks man - is that your Zed in bits? I've been tempted to the dark side.. Just sold mine. How's life treating you? All good I hope!
  6. Just checked my profile today - I'm still a registered user.. Even using pigeon post, you should have received the payment by now.. Reference was either leo-r32gts or Leo Taylor.. Cheers
  7. Just a quick note to say that the car has now sold. I have been made an offer too good to refuse and feel happy that the car is going to a good home. Thanks for everyone's interest and comments. And, thank you to the 300ZX forum - I wish everyone all the best for the future!
  8. Car is driveable - last time I drove it was down from scotland, but that was before the heater matrix let go. If you have a lengthy journey, you'd need to keep an eye on the water level. To be fair, you wouldn't necassarily notice there was an engine issue, the smoke/steam isn't always noticeable and it still goes like stink. Price is keen, as I'd like it gone. Someone will get a very good car at the end of it. Current problems not withstanding. Time for me to move on. All enquiries welcome - but use the number on Pistonheads if you're really keen. Thanks for all the comments.
  9. Yes, Jimmer did the engine mods - with a bill of nearly 7k to prove! I would just like to add, that the engine issues (please see ad on Pistonheads) are in no way related to sub standard work - Jimmer did did a excellent job of rebuilding my engine. I believe the current issues with it relate to an isolated incident when the engine ran hot after dropping all it's coolant from a perished radiator hose. At the time, I thought no damage was done, but slowly piecing everything together, this incident may well have been the culprit.
  10. Hi, Long time no see from a former member. Mods - I have made a BACS payment today to renew my membership, so I hope this does not fall foul of any club regulations. I AM SELLING MY ZED - I will advertise on here as soon as my membership is updated. For now, my car can be found in the 'Other models' section under 'Nissan' on Pistonheads (Dont ask me why it's in that section - I'm trying to get it moved). Please spread the word as I am really wanting a quick sale. If anyone has any questions, I will be happy to answer them here! Many thanks! Leo
  11. 10 quid renewal paid today Thanks
  12. I had one of these, didn't seem to run right and started smoking really badly. Turns out you're not actually supposed to run it on petrol. Ghey..
  13. Um, that sounds very difficult.. Firstly the engine will be so high up it'll be like riding a rocking chair on a waterbed, secondly, it'll be an almighty headache getting the gear box and diff to marry up. Having a car that weighs 800kg and the vast majority of that weight above/behind the rear axle would be a pig to drive quickly. There's a reason they use 4 cylinder engines in those types of chassis, namely packaging. I would forget that idea straight off, personally. That said, doing a wheelie every time you put your foot down, would be quite amusing - well, until you killed yourself, anyway!
  14. Jimmer fitted my 525's as mentioned earlier - I swear by them now! Very responsive turbo, gives great drive ability. It may not give the thump of some larger units, but if you value being able to accelerate mid corner, without snap oversteer, then they are a great package. I've yet to play with anything other than standard boost, but they start working much lower down the rev range than suggested on this thread. By 2k revs they are already working and anything from 3-5/6k is right in the sweet spot. I could have gone for larger units, but I'm glad I listened to Jimmer now, the man talks sense!
  15. Hi Paul, if you haven't got huge amounts of power, I'd stick with a regular clutch. I had to reverse my car uphill and it brought tears to my eyes doing it. Having to use 2k revs or more to pull away on the flat is a bit tedious and probably makes other motorists think you're a ****. Not to mention the amount of times you'll inadvertently stall the damn thing.. I'm going to persevere with mine however, as once the power gets to where I'm hoping, I'm sure it'll be good to have. For regular everyday use, a normal clutch is the way forward - literally!
  16. This is worse than a film with subtitles!!!
