  1. I was in there today and it looks really really :D Have to say though I'm a bit grumpy with you  Phil has spent so much time on that hes not put the engine back in my car yet :p

Remember BHP is just the product of torque and RPM, the only reason the 330d has such a relatively low bhp is because it runs out of puff at high rpm... but high torque obviously means its very quick initially with high turning forces at relatively low rpms...... hence you have to work your rev range to give it a good pasting :D which is why we all want a lovely torque curve as opposed to "just" big bhp.... well you kind of know what I'm getting at anyway :p

For work done on your Z another massive thumbs up for phil at CS Woods, he does all the work on my friends 300 and except the mapping, hes done pretty much everything on my 350 bhp S14, and I really cant fault him :D

S14's anywhere near standard are a very "soft" car, but it takes very little time and money to turn them into a much more focused car, sorted suspension / brakes and 250 bhp/tonne are quite easily achievable and then its lots of smiles....... I love 300's and toyed with the idea of getting one........ but the S14 is just such good value for what it is even if it isnt the car a 300 is, if I stacked a mint 300 on a track I think I would be more than a little sad :( Quite a few of us from the sxoc are at silverstone on tuesday 29th March, £180 for 30 mins on 30 mins off all day :) See: http://www.sxoc.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=133400&highlight=silverstone You can then compare the cars directly in the perfect place, cars running will be from 200 bhp to 400 + bhp :)
  7. I was in a performance wheel place in stockport yesterday that looked like it had stacks of them in  And my local tyre place gets them on 24 hour delivery, although he sometimes has to ring a few different places. I wonder if its a down south thing, as a few people have said that about delays, maybe its cos its so wet in the north west they give us the lions share ;)
  8. I know exactly what you mean, I also work in the medical field and am involved in scientific research however, from my point of view.... You have a lovely big club, either try some different tyres from other members on their cars (I'm sure they will take you for a spin) or yours or go through the slow process yourself of buying then wearing out tyres..... I am not sure why it would be different on your cars but when I try other brands of tyres e.g. my last set of avon ZZ's, in the wet I got uncontrollable wheelspin in all gears above 2000 rpm. With a lot of the tyres I really struggled to do sub 8 secs to 60 in the wet, then add in corners  With F1's in the wet, with the same smooth boost profile, I can redline in every gear without real problems (and minimal controllable spin) and return sub 6's to 60. I suppose you could say thats me testing the ecological validity of F1's on my car. For me that is not just a little difference, that is a massive difference, and tyres are by far the best money I have ever spent on my car. A simple test of straight line runs in the wet should show more than a monetary difference between tyres. I do rate toyo proxes but average miles between new sets have been shockingly low for several SXOC members, although I wouldnt mind trying the new ones. Cheers Steve S14 owner
  9. I had big "professional" tyre dealers tell me they didnt make F1's in my size either
  10. Well on my S14, driving in the wet used to be an invitation to suicide :( Now use 235 F1's and I can drive properly in the wet without fear of death, I would highly reccommend them :) TBH I couldnt believe tyres could be so different in the wet till I tried them... The new proxes are supposed to be a little bit on the excellent side too :)
  11. Friday, Wheels and brakes look cool :) I've treated lots of whiplash patients, if you go into A&E post an accident and they clear serious problems (fractures etc) they will always tell you that you have whiplash... Dont stress too much, although it may get a bit stiff and sore, generally it eases quickly, I presume they gave you a home exercise and care sheet? Generally keep your neck mobile within the limits of comfort, simple exercises can be done lying on your back with your head and neck supported by a medium sized pillow and gently rotate first one way about 10 times then the other way. Also try to sleep with your head in a neutral position.e.g. not rotated or bent forwards/back. Best thing, if you have any worries or cant keep your neck mobile without pain go and see a physio/osteopath for a proper consultation :) Hope you get the car sorted
  12. A big hello to you all  My mates just bought a 300 ZX TT auto, very nice car Its an import in an unusual grey blue colour with the lift out roof, condition is excellent and has modded induction kit, exhaust, electronic boost controller at 14.8 psi etc. Thought we would go for a little spin to see how it runs on our private test track, one of my mates decided he should sit his fat 16 stone arse in my car to even things up, as after being in both cars he thought mine was quicker  Did a few warm up laps then came off a nice corner and gave it some, watched as my mate lost it on the corner as he booted it somewhat early and did some fishtailing I slowed down and waited for him to catch up then we both booted, pretty even to 140-150 leptons, I backed off as I have had to put a temporary alloy on the car with an odd tyre (but good) so the balance isnt exactly perfect and my mate slowed too..... Then did a run from standing, predictably I munched him in first with a massive loss of traction due to my shite grip tyre then he hammered past in second, gaining a good car length on me. Have to admit to being mucho suprised as my car munches Boxter S's, MR2 turbos etc etc without too much trouble. Cant remember last time a car overtook me in 2nd  Mines running 300 at the fly :) I do wonder how much power he is running, anyone guess? Next time my fat mate sits in his car. I am starting to like 300's, I've seen some really nice ones lately, there were some very nice ones at tatton park a couple of weeks ago ;) I have even had a little browse of the cars for sale at the moment... But I do love my 200 and loads of bits on order to fit ;) __________________ Burgundy S14 (S14A Engine, gearbox, turbo) Apexi N1 twin silencer exhaust, decat, downpipe, IK24's, Apexi induction kit, Brembo grooved discs and mintex M1144 pads, Eibachs, Autometer boost guage, Walbro fuel pump, AP organic clutch, Momo GT2's, Whiteline bushes, ss induction box, Horsham Developments Stage 1 chip, Apexi AVCR, Hybrid FMIC, Bailey Evo dump valve and a road angel.
