Think the 2 problems are one mate,without the pipe connected you will have a vac leak,buggering up the idle!-are you sure there isn't a spare spigot on the plenum for it?-or the vacuum gallery running along the side of the plenum? BTW,looks like AIV solenoid........

The cams will be right when lined up with the marks-No'1 needs to be TDC-or when the lower mark lines up.
