Hate to say it but sounds like yer box is just about to say goodnight!! I see your on Canvey , have you tried Scott at Redline Imports in Southend (01702511100) he tends to have a rebuilt auto box ready for fitting, if not he can rebuild yours ?

I can get any plate made any size for show use only!!Also the law on plates for imported cars changed recently it now stands that if a car has an aperture built into its bodywork, MR2 import rear bumper for example, its legal to have the plate made to the size of that aperture.So if you need some show plates come back to me.

definately engine out,it will take you hours of swearing just to undo the r/h turbo then to find out you cant actually get it out of the engine bay!! Plus with the engine pulled you get to inspect/replace all them 'orrible little hoses that love to leak so saving hours of fun trying to replace them in situ!! PS I would recomend Scott on 01702 511100 (Southend on Sea. Essex)
