pcv valves explained part 1
Nice write up Jeff, always wondered how those little "buggers" worked???? And at last I now know what PCV stands for!!!! If these things are a bit "dodgy" can it cause the engine to "smoke" and if so when is that likely? Cheers Mate, Si

steering rack boots, big job?
If you are planning on removing the track rod end, which I have to say isn't too tricky, (crack the lock nut on the track rod. Take out the split pin, undo the nut on the ball joint side and knock seven bells out of the carrier). Whatever you do make sure you remove the abs sensor first, it's held in by a 10mm bolt at the rear. if you hit the hub carrier with anything harder than a marsh mallow with the abs sensor still attached there is a very good chance you will break the wire and end up looking for a new sensor (or two). also make sure when you unscrew the track rod end to count the number of turns so that you can refit it and hopefully your tracking will be about right. Good Luck, Griff

exhaust prob
I have a standard centre section and a pair of standard rears, you can have them for nothing if they're any good to you. I took them off mine when I fitted the stainless and as far as I know they're still servicable. I see you're in Dunstable and i live in Bedford, let me know if you'd like them (email: griff925@aol.com) Cheers, Griff

Urgent Help wont start
Without wanting to state the obvious! have you checked for a live feed at the pump? you say that the earth is OK, assuming that both are present then it would seem that the pump is faulty. When I was testing mine I used one of the little 9v (smoke detector) batteries, which I connected directly to the terminals on the pump, it provided enough power to run the pump up and start the car. might be worth a try at least you'll have a difineative answer as to whether or not the pump runs. Urgent Help wont start
I had this on Mine, parked it at the supermarket (no problems) came back and it wouldn't start. I ended up running a new Earth wire to the fuel pump, that was 2 years ago and it's been working fine ever since. Hope this helps Griff

There is no spark
If I were a betting man I'd say that your car had the "PTU Woes"! I know you say that it is connected OK but I'd try giving the connections a real good clean. Best way is to use the tip of a stanley knife blade to clean inside the connector plug, also you could try cleaning up the contacts on the PTU itself with a folded piece of wet and dry or an emery board. If you use any electrical spray be sure to dry the whole lot before putting it back together. Hope this helps!!!! Griff

A BIG thankyou
I'd like to add my Thanks to Jeff and Jamie, for giving mine the 'once over' on Sunday, and also for taking the time to explain the Conzult diagnostics. I've had my Zed for ten years now but they managed to show me things I'd never heard of. I'll certainly be bringing the car to you for any work and would recommend Zedworld to all. I'm glad that you managed to recover after the storm on Saturday, Well done guys and girl (Linda) Thanks Again. Si Griffiths (griff925)
