  1. Hi Can someone please forward this to Beermonster for me? I would like to buy you cream leather seats if you still have them but I'm not able to PM you or post in the for sale forum. Can you please email me at ian.ebay@btinternet.com to arrange? Excellent, thanks PS My subscription will be in the post on Tuesday, I just didnt want to miss out on these seats, hope it is OK:o
  2. Sorry for the confusion. What I meant is that the dipstick had popped out a bit and put some oil onto the battery. (I have tested that today and it seems to only happen under boost or heavy boost) I did a search on here and read that I should heat up the engine, leave it running and then remove the oil cap and look for oil vapours. I did check and there were no vapours, which is good, but there were tiny spits of oil coming out and I wasnt sure if that was normal or not. Thanks for the pointers so far.
  3. I am in Darlington. I think I am going to garage the car for a few months. Then do a full service and change the PCV valves, before heading to Zed World for a full check up and new heater matrix. Cheers again for the input guys. Can anyone confirm if it is indeed normal to 'spit' small amounts of oil from the oil filler neck with the cap off, whilst the engine is running? It just has me a bit worried....
  4. Thanks for the advice. Am I right in thinking the first port of call is the PCV valves in regard to the dipstick popping?? Finally, can anyone confirm if it is normal to spit oil out the filler neck when the cap is off and the engine running?? Cheers Guys.
  5. I have a TT 1991 and am having some problems and would appreciate some advice on a few things. The car has done 92K miles and has been driven extremely carefully and the turbos rarely used. The car is always heated up ans cooled down at the start and end of every trip. The last few weeks I have noticed a few problems. Firstly, there is a very loud tapping noise coming from the drivers side behind the dashboard which could either be in the car itself but can also be heard outside the car, near the drivers side wiper. Its normally only when cold and when idling in traffic. Secondly, for the last few weeks the car has smelt very strongly of petrol despite being fitted with braided fuel lines. There is little to no smoke at idle and certainly nothing when hot. When boosting there is no smoke however occassionally there is a strange smell. Today I noticed that the dipstick had popped and checked for vapours from the oil filler. There were no vapours, but the oil was spitting out in small spots and I didnt know if the is normal or not, as I have never run the engine without its oil filler cap on before. Any advice is appreciated.
  6. Thanks for the reply. So it will definately leak even if the whole system is switched of completely? Bugger.
  7. Hi Guys I wondered if you could give me some advice. 1) Yesterday my car began smoking from under the passenger side dashboard and you could clearly see water dripping out from under it(in particular when turning right). On inspection both the drivers side and passenger carpets were soaking wet! I assume it is the heater matrix, but can someone confirm this?? 2) If so, I want to dry the carpets out and store the car for a few months. If the heater system is not switched on will the car still leak the water whilst driving? Its just I dont want to store it with a wet floor pan and I need to drive the car to the storage. Thanks for your advice in advance!
  8. Thanks for the response guys. I will slip it into neutral next time I am out in it. If it is the propshaft bearing is it a big job?? How urgent would it be to do(i.e. is it dangerous)I will let a garage do it but just wondered what to expect. Thanks again.
  9. Hi Guys:dance: My 91 auto TT is driving absolutely perfectly except........ at speeds of over 65mph when the revs are at 2500rpm there is a rumble from what sounds like the rear of the car. If I raise the revs to 3000rpm it disappears, as it does when you drop to 2000rpm. Around town and at low speeds it is perfect but if I stay at 70mph, either manually or in cruise control the car drives at 2500rpm hence the problem. It is quite a worrying noise and will stay there continuously until the revs move 500rpm in either direction. I hope someone can shed some light on this one:)
