  1. nobody ever said any advise was crap jefftt has just outlined the issue many problems are very closly related ... yes the process of elimination is ok if you have two cars the same but otherwise it could be costly unless you strike lucky and sort the problem earlier rather that later..im sure at some point it would be more sensible to buy conzult ... (in the long run) which is what im going to do so i know 100% what to fix once im fixed up ill flog it ...
  2. ok can a safly say that if we where using common sense here a vacuum leak could not cause a car to missfire... what i mean is one set of problems are surely electrical as in a missfire and a vacuum leak surley would just cause loss of power however it would not stop the spark plugs sparking .. pete i honestly think the conzult thing would be a better buy im going looking for it or datscan it would save everybody on here alot of problems and money .. if i buy one i will flog you a copy as you can get the dongle from china for 40 quid to plug it into your lappy .. well basically it would save us both a shit load of trouble and give us a head start
  3. pete sounds like you have inherited the same problem i have got exactly.... now between you and me maybe we can come up with a solution ??? my car goes well sometimes but sometimes it clearly starts to missfire once warmed up like once its past the autochoke stage on other cars toyotas seem to rev high till the choke goes off then they calm down .. well this zx seems to run smoothly in the first 5 mins of running once slightly warm it starts to missfire .. after undergoing all suggestions from here i have changed plugs coilpacks injector plugs coilpack plugs have tried timing also no leaks.. tps is set using voltage correctly det sensor is bypassed to rule that out ...still i have same intermittent problem .. the more i use my common the more i think this is something as simple as a stray spark somewhere i think znut meantioned it in another post ... so try looking for a spark in the night ... when you find a fix if you do let me know and ill do the same back .. maybe somebody could design some heat resistant non conductive sleeves to put in the hole where coilpacks go just a half mill thick or so to stop stray sparks..
  4. as in a full list from start to finish like 1/ remove det put in resistor see image below 2/ remove air flow plug stick in a dog buscuit and just see what happens !!! lol. that sort of thing ..
  5. yeah my question is has anybody got a real list of what sensors can be removed to eliminate problem ones such as det and air etc ..
  6. Has anybody actually got one of these cars that actually works? Secondly if you think your answer to that is yes, I'll bet you 50 grand it wasnt for more than 5 days solid... Sick to the back teeth of these cars!! Im selling it and going back to Toyota UNLESS there is a way to bypas every last bast**d sensor on the car .....
  7. told you !! o rings on balance bar can i borrow your air flow sensor to check if its that causing my lumpy tickover ???? im going to clean the valves in side of inlet manifolds done all injector connectors its better but still not 100% about 80 % i rekon plus the ptu is going to get binned and i want a mark 2 new one to b e sure....
  8. im sure i will be able to use it so it could help all 3 of us me you and gav
  9. gav did you order the dongle from china ??? PAUL do you want to sell conzult or sell a copy of the software ???
  10. how much does it cost ???
  11. cheers carmad ill check out the knock tommorrow as it is worrying and sounds pooo
  12. take of the centre cowl saying nissan and the two cables are there the one on the right loosentwo nuts on adjuster and pull any slack in the other one is the cruise control i think nowt important anyway... it just means not paly on cables give better responce and i found it got rid of my prob...if you turn on ignition but dont start car you can pull cable and hear a hiss do not tighten cable as far as the hiss make sure when you release the throttle body it stops hissing just !!
  13. tudor i sorted my idle prob by the following.. using the throttle cable tightner i adjusted the idle to about 1300 ish then untightned the throttle position sensor and moved it about till it idled at about 800 tightned it up ...now all it well no stall throttle seems responsive and no flat spot which makes you shit it at a junction thinking its going to stall...
  14. probably when im done i will need a proper 300zx driver who knows exactly how they should perform to drive the car .... and give me the list of jobs i need to do ...
  15. they look a bit like washer motors like the ones that spurt water is that what they are ?
