  4. Hi guys, does anybody have a contact number or address for Rich? I should go and collect these screens now that I've got some free time
  5. and not detracting from the sadness of this incident or wishing to steer away from the threads intent but that ^^^^^ is a very true statement. I remember several years ago one of the patrol MV's (early Jackal's) struck a legacy Soviet mine whilst out on patrol and although the wheels were blown off and the vehicle was written destroyed the glacis plates did its job and fortunately the only injuries sustained were broken legs (vehicle commander) and the driver suffered concussion having been thrown 20 odd feet out of the vehicle along with the gunner, all survived however relatively unscathed. Within a year a similar incident occured resulting in the death of both driver and commander as the device laid by the INS was effectively 3 bar mines stacked on top of one another.....that would have destroyed an MBT let alone a Jackal (which incidentally was cut in half) The Mastiff offers fantastic protection and it is an absolute God send for movement from FOB to FOB but every single guy is under no illusion that nothing is invulnerable and a big enough device will destroy it. It may or may not have rolled and the guys may or may not have been strapped in and I'm sure the press will be very quick to report the specifics of the incident as and when they are made available to them. Remembering of course that the IED doesn't have to penetrate the armour for the guys inside to take the full force of the impact/over pressure. Maybe a seperate thread would perhaps be appropriate if this aspect is to be discussed in more detail
  6. I use Paisley for wheels/tyres etc but wouldn't trust them again with any FRP body parts, I've had far too many bits broken through their dodgy parcel stacking in the back of the delivery van
  7. Oh yeah they do make a mess of softer metal nuts and bolt heads. I had a rounded nut on my red zed's upper camber arm mount that was a propper bastid' and whatever I tried the thing wouldn't shift. I bought these and it came off with no trouble at all, but yes I agree they aren't great if you want to re-use whatever it is that you're trying to remove.
  8. It's difficult to tell 100% with Stillen because they have had about 15 different versions of 'their' front and rear strut braces and what I found (this was back in 2007 mind you) was that they had a tendency to re-name other branded kit as their own, the 2007 Stillen air filter/induction kit for example was just a re-branded version of someone elses (pipercross I believe it was?)
  9. Yeah they look like the same thing mate. If needs be as long as you guys can figure out what size you need you can borrow one of mine, I can pop it in the post and when you're finished just post it back
  10. These badgers are perfect for this kind of thing, I swear they are one of the best things I've ever bought. Pop the right size on a ratchet and it grips the nut allowing you to undo it
  11. and so would I mate....in fact I'd be chuffed just seeing it get off my driveway at the moment
  12. Hello chief, the bumper is a urethane GTZ-R that I imported from Stillen about 6 years ago. I've modified it and made the front opening higher and lower openings shallower to accomodate the Greddy 3 row fmic and long Arc oil cooler, the side canards are home made/modified jobbies' made from carbon fibre
  13. Very sad for the families and friends of the guys who were killed and of course those who were wounded, but please just take a moment to spare a thought also for the guys who weren't injured but who had to deal with the incident and the effects of treating their muckers under those conditions. Immediately they have to put all of this to the back of their minds and carry on with their jobs in a professional manner and see out the rest of their tour. Only when they're back home with their own friends and families will they be able to switch off and start to come to terms with it.
  14. Completely fake mate, send it to me and I'll dispose of it for you :sneaky2: Only joking mate, to be honest it looks like a genuine Stillen one to me (though it may be a slightly older model) and I dare say there probably aren't that many of them fitted to zeds over here. I'd say realistically it's worth at least £80 and that would be a fair price considering how much Carbing sell for secondhand and with both original RRP not being much different Edit: wrong link...doh!
  15. After spending most of the morning making absolutely no progress at all with regards to the VG's running issue I figured I'd take a time out and make a new centre panel. The new panel should (a) fill the gap and (b) give me a place to fit the internal battery cut off switch. The air con is long gone but I thought that a perforated panel would make a good alternative to a solid panel as I could still benefit from the cold/hot air blowing through it from the heater. It's not quite finished yet, I'm in two minds as to whether I should paint it or leave it as it is. It's galvanised so shouldn't rust and apart from fixing in place with a couple of allen bolts and maybe fitting a short strip of rubber edging along the bottom to tidy it up it's pretty much there. the running issue has got me well and truly stumped though and I reckon it may be due to a cracked manifold on the passenger side.....we'll see
  16. I've had another look underneath the car today and I'm 99% certain that the trolley jack hasn't damaged anything underneath apart from the skirt, though it did come down with a hefty bump. I've got a fuelab FPR with gauge that I'll pop on there tomorrow just to check the fuel pressure. Earlier today I checked and cleaned the coilpacks and all of the easily accesible connectors in the engine bay. Whatever the issue is it does seem to me around the area of the rear of the engine on the passenger side. The aftermarket gauge is in psi so where initially I thought it was reading boost fine it actually blips just slightly above '0 psi' so there must be a boost leak, though every single hose, coupling and pipe has been checked and double checked. I suspect that there may be a hose or something loose at the back of the engine or quite possibly the passenger side turbo is playing up (though I don't think that this is the case). I've spoken to a mate of mine who runs a local garage and he's offered to take a quick look, though by his own admission he's not an expert on the VG30DETT. This may be a case of getting it up to Zedworld and letting them take over and sort it whilst I move house
  17. Easy enough mate, on a ramp it would take no time.....lying on your back with the car on stands takes a bit longer
