sorry to here this but at least they didn't get it away! if the outside casing of the lock is only damaged you may be able to repaire the lock with a new housing. i did my old cav i stripped the lock straightened out the brass encoders inside and re housed them in a new lock. it worked a treat. i think greg used to be a master locksmith pm him bud he may be able to suggest something with out having to resort changing all the locks all the best gaz

they can suffer from dry solder joints like the digital clock in the centre consol. gently take the dash cluster apart, remove the speedo and resolder all the joints (im having to do exactly the same to my uk clocks only had them fitted 3 months :headvswal ) gaz

drill it out very gently and you can get a special tool which puts a lef hand thread in it and undoes the remaining bolt thread. failing that if its a 6 mm bolt drill a 5mm hole in the thread and retap if not it will have to be an imperial thread possibly. you can also buy a thread repair kit which is like a resin which reinstates the thread (not 100% sure) but possibly worth a shot good luck bud gaz

have you got and alarm on the car which can control the door locks, if so the thought i had would be the door locking solonoid. if its not switching properly or is malfunctioning in any other way it could possibly give you a high pitched noise. its not from experience or anything just an idea . someone else may be along who can help (hopefully :( ) all the best gaz

yep! its only from 1992 they can test with a cat and thats only if they have the spec for the car so im hoping with mine registered as a k reg but being an na they wont do a lower emissions test as i want to remove mine also.

i actually got the lady to hold the bulb and cable while tried to apply solder. i stupidly lost my rag with the bulb cos the solder wouldn't take looked up at caz and dropped the iron onto my hand :headvswal :headvswal #i have never had an accident in all the years of using a soldering iron until now :cry: but i did burn myself on my old car when i took off what i thought was a vaccum hose and it turned out to be a water one 3 hours in casulty and arm wrapped up for weeks :rofl:

no should say get some decent solder that at least has some flux in it so it will take to the damn bulb lol :rofl:
