Auto's sap a lot of your power as well, so i cant see how can be quicker, as for driving there is no comparision. I think the Z auto box is awful myself.

As Funki says the offset is the key to how it looks, but also bare in mind the further the wheel sticks out the more strain you are putting on your wheel bearings so dont go to silly
