Fancy a 300zx project
Ok guys I have drawn up a list of what is going to be removed!! So far I have got: Items to be Removed: Electric Windows………………………………………………………………...1.3 kg Electric Mirrors…………………………………………………………………….1.3 kg Headlight Aimers........................ ……...........................1 kg Cruise Control………………………………...... ….... …………………….1 kg Rear Wipers………………………………....... ............................1.2 kg Radio, Speakers and all Associated Wiring..…………………….. 13.6 kg Antenna and all Associated Wiring………………………………….... 0.8 kg Cargo Cover………………………………......... ..........................2.2 kg Spare Tire, Jack, Wheel Chock’s, and Inflator Can……………14.5 kg Rear Hatch Weight………………………………....... ...................1.3 kg Rear Tow Hooks………………………………........ ..................... 1.5 kg PRVR System………………………………....... .......................... 0.5 kg Center Support Bearing………………………………...……. ...…..... 0.5 kg Timing Belt Covers………………………………....... ...................1 kg Fan Shroud………………………………....... .............................1 kg AIV System………………………………....... ........................ .... 4 kg T-Top Wind Blockers………………………………..... .................. 0.5 kg T-Top Shades………………………………....... ...................... ... 1 kg Fog Light Air Ducts……………………………..…...... .................. 1 kg All 4 Strut Actuators ………………………………………….……………... 1 kg Sound Proofing……………………………………………………………………. 15 kg Front Carpet w/ Insulation Attached…………………………………. 6.8 kg Rear Rug and Wooden Spare Cover…………………………………..3.6 kg ALL Plastic Panels with their Insulation Attached…………….. 10 kg All Tweed and Carpet Covered Panels………………………………. 4.5 kg Misc. Anyone know what the back seats weight? These will be coming out too, but couldn't find out weight of them anywhere? Anyone else think of items I can get away with? Not including light panels, glass etc. I thinking more parts that can be taken out (for now)! Once I get the car I am sure I'll find a few more things :D With this weight saving and around 370bhp I am looking at rough;ly 270bhp per tonne. Really want to get to the 300BHP per Tonne, though! :wack:

Lol thanks! It's the same with all cars I have owned and I'll start talking to someone with the same car and they start going off on about X amount of BHP gained from doing this and that and often it's complete rubbish! lol I def be going up to larger injectors and 14 PSI, just hope for the best for the turbos :D Nice figures! I am definatley going ahead with this project! I am aiming to get the car down to 1,250 ish KG which seems pretty achievable and with 360 or so BHP, should be pretty fast! Fan has been added to the list, thanks :) I will have to check those other sites outs you mentioned too! Was not aware the chip could do this, nice to know! Thanks man :hyper::hyper::hyper: Stage V baby :D Thanks for the link! That is an awesome car and even a manual too! Damn! But, those damn damn buts, I have to get rid of my Zx6r first to make some space and free up some "mod" money! If the bike is gone and you still have the Zed then I'll be interested! Unless you fancy a part e/x?? ( 54 reg kawasaki Ninja)

Fancy a 300zx project
Thanks, a lot of things I wouldn't have thought on that list at first! Will the car still idle OK on start up with the removal of the EGR/AVI systems?? Are they DIY's for removal of a/c , egr etc? Thanks :D

Fancy a 300zx project
Cheers guys and thanks for the welcome :) Are the SWB's harder to come by? On the list for removal is: A/C and all heater related materials Electric windows, seats, mirrors Radio/speakers BAck seats (if I don't find a SWB!) Remove all Sound proofing. Remove HICAS Dash/ Dials? Then add Lighter door pannels, bonnet and tail, and bucket seats Anything else to remove? I am thinking of removing dash and making a smaller fibre glass one, but not sure if its worth doing, due to not knowing the weight!

Fancy a 300zx project
Hi guys, Been looking at 300 zx's for a while and I have always loved them, I still don't know too much about them though (mainly because many people say different things!) I am planning on buying a 91 twin turbo that has 80,000 miles. Its all standard for the mo. I wanna gut it and strip it out and only have the basics in, none of this a/c and electric seats etc. I have a few questions though! How much weight woukld I be able to remove from the car?? I wanna go pretty extreme, no back seats, no a/c, buckest seats and pretty much take out all the weight I can. How many KG's do you think I could shave off the factory weight? Also, I have read I will get anywhere between 300-400bhp from an exhaust, CAI, chip, boost controller, bigger injectors and de-cat. So my question is what is a likely BHP figure? I would have though 360-370BHP would be likely? Hopefully I am going to build an M3 killer, as the g/f won't let me do any more mods to it, so hence the 300 zx (she won't have to be seen in it, so I can unleash my modding urges on to the z!).
