  1. Hi Late reply I know. Would have replied earlier but just got car back from bodyshop. I had same problem recently when I had cam belt changed my NA radiator fell apart due to rust. Mechanic sourced one. On the radiator there is a sticker, says SWRadiators.co.uk Hope this helps
  2. Hi Anyone got any idea why my power steering goes heavy when the weather is wet or damp. When it happens it is for a little while, then its like a switch turning on and its fine again. Got car back 2 weeks ago from having cam belt replaced, mentioned this at the time, mechanic checked over, new PS belt, no leaks, he did say there was a little air in the system which he removed and when i picked up no problems. Now weather has changed goes heavy. Getting frustrating and have MOT next week.
  3. Hi Thanks, that's the reply I didn't really want. Now got some investigating to do
  4. Hi All I just replaced all the lights in the dash with blue LED, including the petrol warning light and have now noticed that the warning light is permanently on! Can I not use LED for this light? Cheers in advance Rob
  5. I bought the gear lever gaiter and the cover for the arm rest pocket - gear lever gaiter easy to fit but took me nearly 3 hours to fit the cover on the lid, major pain in butt but looks good when on
  6. Hi Don't take it for granted that NA discs are the same as a TT for a 1993 car. I have 1993 series 2 NA and my discs were the 26mm type which was a bit of a shock when I tried to fit new discs and pads. In the end got TT calipers to overcome it
  7. When using stalk nothing left, ok right, when using hazard both ok
  8. Hi Just checked hazards, as an after thought and indicators on left work, so guessing stalk issues
  9. Hi Went out in car lunchtime, got caught in big downpour - not sure if a factor but I have lost the indicators on left side only, right still working fine. I have checked and as far as I can see there is only 1 fuse, that is obviously ok as right side working. Has the car got 2 flasher units? or is indicator stalk knackered? Help please as nearly had a car rear end me lunchtime Rob
  10. Hi I am trying to replace my gear knob, it is rubber coated, I have removed everything, gaiter, console etc, but can't seem to get this damn thing off. I have tried pulling, twisting but that twists lower shaft Any ideas how to do it? thanks in advanced Rob
  11. Spartan - you are a star, absolute star, it worked a treat, just got back from a run in it now no problems. What causes this problem, overfuelling? how? Rob
  12. Hi Also when I turned her over, she fired once and that was it
  13. Hi I have checked a few things over, the cam is turning over, the connections on the CAS and PTU are ok, I removed a coilpack and plug and got a good spark, there is a strong petrol smell after cranking so assume petrol is getting through. Any other ideas? Jimmer, how do you lose compression? on all 6 cylinders? They were all checked at time of cambelt change and all between 165 - 170 psi, oil and filter regularly changed etc Rob
  14. Thanks guys Will try looking to see if cams are moving whilst in gear tomorrow. Wife is at work and got no one near me to help. Will also check PTU and CAS, will let you know tomorrow Rob
  15. Hi I have a NA and and have it for the past 6 years, this morning I started it and it fired first time as usual but cut out after 5 seconds. When I tried to restart, nothing, except for the engine turning over really quickly. I haven't had a chance to look at it but having similar problems with other cars I'm thinking cam belt issues. The cam belt was replaced, with tensioners and water pump 4 years ago and the car has only done 10000 miles since then. It was only replaced due to a bolt working loose from a pulley so decided to have the lot replaced. the mechanic said I was lucky as the bottom crankshaft pulley was missing it's woodruff key at the time of the work. He, his words, struggled to purchase one, so he manufactured one to go in. My thinking is cam belt failure or woodruff key failure. Any ideas as I am gutted at loss, however temporary of the car. :( Rob
