Hi guys, Thanks for showing me how donuts are supposed to be done, I guess 4WD and no turbos isn't a great starting point. I don't think I'd fancy driving a Zed in the rain!!! Steve
  2. Oh yeah, Maxsunny. Nice car, sort him out on the M1!!!
  3. I'll possibly be going, possibly not. The car has let go of the crank less than 24hrs before I go to JAE. ****ing typical. Have fun guys.
  4. Fair enough. I'll be thinking of you whilst drinking beer! Don't go too fast if Justin is with you, I don't think he's into high speeds!!!
  5. Why not wait a little while and join up with us. Then you'll miss the M1 clogging up as it does every Friday afternoon. Steve
  6. Maxsunny. Are you the guy Justin mentioned (he owns a GTO TT)? I'm going to head down to JAE on the friday with a few others. Do you fancy joining us? We're going to meet at Woodall services on the M1 around the 19:30 mark. I'll be going M180/M18 to get there if you want to meet up? Steve
  7. If I said Barton, you'd know where! I work on a new power station in Immingham, hence the board username. JAPS is the show in Newark (Thoresby park) this weekend coming (26th and 27th June). I'm going down on the Friday evening and stopping until Sunday PM. If you're planning to go, I can PM you my mobile number. I am also going to JAE at Billing next month aswell. The nitrous is a Wizards of Nos kit, though only the large bottle is nitrous. One of the smaller bottles is propane to fuel the nitrous, and the other is a CO2 intercooler kit. I'm not too happy with how it's all working at the moment, so I'm probably gonna ditch one or 2 of the botles and go back to basics for a while. Steve
  8. Yep, twas me with nitrous. I have many pictures of Gloynboyz cars for Barryboys.co.uk, but couldn't bring myself to take photos of Maxd or Donny cruise cars, as the majority were very well presented. The RS owners club were, without doubt, the best club there, and their cars were outstanding, even for Fords! I can't understand a Mondeo owner's club, but I guess it takes allsorts. The MG X-power club had some nice cars, but the one winning best ICE, was just an over the top pile of speakers and amps in a boot, didn't sound too great and was badly organised. If I had really wanted that prize, I'd have taken my credit card to Halfrauds and bought the same stuff he had, then thrown it in my boot! Are you going to JAPS? If so, pop over to where the GTOs are and ask a couple of people where Homer is, someone will point me out to you. Let's have a beer!!!! Steve
  9. I thought the standard was somewhat lowered by the sheds at the entrance, all adorned with "Gloynboyz" stickers. Not a single one of them was fit for showing. Maxsunny - I saw your car there, looking nice. I would have come and talked to you, but you were engrosed in conversation with someone else. Steve (3 bottles in my boot, not all nitrous ;))
  10. I'd love to come, but my clutch is fried, and the new one is in a UPS van in North Carolina as we speak. I will come and play with you Zeds soon, mwahahahaha. Steve (GTO TT)

I would imagine the 25th July would be out in most peoples books, as it's the same weekend as JAE. I have emailled back asking for prices, camping availability, whether we would get an actual "shootout" at the end of the day and if we would get a dedicated class for ourselves. I'll let you know when I hear some more. I've not heard anything from Santa Pod yet. As a side issue for club commitee members, would each of the clubs be willing to stump up some cash and buy some prises for the event if it happens? Maybe an overall fastest trophy and some bubbly? Steve
  12. GTOUK have entered a team of 5 cars into this for the last 2 years events. I can tell you it's an excellent day out, and your club would do well to get a foot in the door early for next year's event, to enter a team of your best 5 cars.

    Oh, also here and here

Have a look here for some info on propane. It works like water injection, only better! Instead of getting a fuel controller and leaning out my injectors when on the propane, I add nitrous to lean out the mixture whilst adding propane to stop detonation and raise the AF ratio and octane. I've also emailled Santa Pod to see if they can offer a do for us!

I have emailled York dragway asking for possible dates, costs and what the chances are of them organising something along the lines of the minis vs beetles event for us. I'll let you know when I get a reply.

The clutch was a standard one AFAIK, I've never had the clutch out since buying it, nut I doubt it would be uprated, though it will be soon!

Well yesterday was a complete nightmare. My clutch was already starting to slip before we got there, and when I turned up the boost and nitrous/propane mixture, it simply let go completely. I had to get towed home afterwards :( What I would say though, is York might be a good venue to hold an event at. Yesterday was RWYB where everyone was seperated into classes. 300zx would be in the Super touring car class, and the GTO is in the 4WD class. Yesterday they had an event for minis and beetles, where they were in their own class together, getting the same amount of runs as the RWYB guys got. Then at the end of the day they had a shootout just for that class based on their qualifying times throughout the day. I'm fairly sure they would be able to let us have our own class just for 300s and GTOs in a similar format. I think the price might increase a touch from the £25 (admission and RWYB) to maybe £35-40 each, but I'll drop them an email and see what they say.

By the way, if you want to come over and say hello, I'm the 6'7" tall guy in the dark silver K-reg Mk1 (pop-up lights) with 3 polished bottles in the boot.

Hi guys, Are any of you running at York tomorrow (Easter Monday)? I'll be there in my GTO twin turbo with propane and nitrous, though 1/4s will be hampered by my slipping clutch :(. I know a couple of other guys are running the RWYB in GTOs and 3000GTs aswell if you want to meet up for a bit a head to head.
  20. Unfortunately you can't hear detonation (knock) until it reaches such a high amount that the engine is virtually dieing in front of you. The advantage of Pocket logger or TMO is that it uses the GTO knock sensor to read this, and even at small levels you can see the results, and back the boost off. I believe the Zeds have a knock sensor built in aswell? Might be worth asking the PocketLogger guys if they do a version that will run on your cars. I'm sure if the market appeared they would do the programming. I also have a product from PocketLogger called a knockbox which I'm fitting in a couple of weeks. This also reads the sensor output along with the exhaust O2 reading and displays it on the dash. Again, I don't know if they do a version which will work on the Zeds. Steve
  21. The discs are the GTO or 3000GT discs from '93 onwards. The problem with these discs is availability. There is only one mould in the world which moves from country to country. Silverfish DBA do make the discs in this size and are quite cheap. EBC have made made one pair of these discs as a prototype, then gave up! I have these discs fitted to my late '92 GTO TT, but mine are Tarox F2000 discs. Tarox make these discs from a single billet, then machine them with the grooves. If you do go for the conversion, don't use standard Mitsi discs, as they warp like crazy on the GTO, so I would imagine you wouldn't be overly impressed if you upgraded the 300ZX brakes to these and they warped!!!!! If you have any questions about GTO brake discs please contact me by email or PM, and I'll try to help. Amber performance do club discount on Tarox for the GTOUK club, so it may be worth talking to them. Mine cost about £350 for a pair of discs. Steve
  22. A bit of GTO knowledge to churn the brain. Our stock engines are good for about 12.5 PSI. To go higher requires a new fuel pump, fuel pressure regulator, injectors and a air/fuel controller as a minimum. (15 PSI) To go even higher boost than this requires forged internals and bigger turbos, so big money and tuning. Up until 6 months ago we believed that 1 bar (14.5 PSI) was safe on standard turbos and fuelling. Since then we found out that GTOs were knocking at 13 PSI to the extent that engines rebuilds were on the cards. Do you guys have anything along the lines of TMO or PocketLogger to measure knock in your engines? This is now top of the GTO mods list to make sure that future mods don't cost a £1000 (minimum) rebuild. Steve Food for thought, happy to discuss
  23. I hope you guys don't mind a GTO owner posting here, but.... I blew the engine running too much boost, then spent 4 months rebuilding it to make it work. After getting it running for the first time I put it in the garage only to notice the lights wouldn't turn off. Tried everything and eventually disconnected the battery for the night. This went on for a couple of days (connecting then disconnecting) until I found out that pressing the foglight button (by accident) turns the sidelights on. As my foglights don't work, I had no idea that this happened. Steve PS, hope you can laugh even harder at GTO owners misfortunes.
  24. LOL This would be a good side by side shot at the start line.
  25. I think the guy with the nos could have been Dave, he doesn't post on the forum, but he attends a few meets in a black GTO with nos. I know he had some problems when the kit was first installed with a dodgy hose.
