  1. its also a jap import not sure if this makes a differance
  2. hi does anybody know where i can get a speed sensor for a 91 manual TT, or does anybody have one for sale? thanks
  3. does anyone know where i can buy a second hand gauge cluster from or anyone even have one for sale? im not too sure which joints to solder, looks like a mini comprter on the back of the gauge! also what sort of price am i looking at? its a 91 jap import tt. theres not much on ebay
  4. where is the power steering controller? is that the box behind the ecu in the passenger footwell?
  5. i can give it a go, so its still likely to be the speedo itself even though the actual gauge works at the moment? pics would be really uesfull, thanks
  6. hi been working on the car again today, stripped all the speedo again but still couldn,t find anything wrong, but now the speedo works all the time! but still no steering :-( i am still gettin 1.6v down to the solinoid and this does not change whether im driving stationary or even if the speedo unit is completely disconnected, its always the same aaarrrgggghhhhhhh
  7. what is meant by dry joints?
  8. can't drive it at the mo because the MOT has ran out lol. anybody got any ideas?
  9. mine is just random! sometimes the speedo works, it used to stop working when the steering did but now the speedo works most of the time but the steering just doesn't work! i've just been looking at it again now and the speedo sensor seems fine. what is meant by dry joints on the cpeedo circuit board? i have taken the speedo cluster out and cleaned all the big block connectors that push in the back and still no luck. tryed disconnecting everything and then tested the ecu - still 1.6v. i was thinking it was the clocks but i think i've tested everything. it is fitted with a speed converter but no blue lights.
  10. i've not checked it yet, i'll try it tomorrow. how do you test the speed sensor? i know where it is on the gearbox, but should it be tested with a multimeter? if so what should i test for and what readings should i get? cheers
  11. yer mine needs an MOT now can't take it in like this! don't know if to buy an ecu or not???
  12. hi i'm having major problems with my power steering. it used to be an intermittent problem with the speedo, but now there is no powersteering but the speedo does work most or the time. i have cleened all the connections behind the dash, cleaned the connector to the solinoid by the steering rack, and disconnected the speedo converte. the problem i found though is with the engine at idle i am only getting 1.6v at the solinoid. i know this should be 5v, so traced it back to the smaller ecu and i am getting 1.6v out of the ecu. now i'm stuck. does this mean a faulty ecu or could it be anything else? or is there anything else i can check please help!
  13. it was the PTU! put a new one on and it runs perfect. thanks for the help, saved me loads of £££££££££££££!
  14. wow what a quick reply! will check tomorrow and let you know. cheers
  15. hi i've just brought my first zx tt. ran like a dream at first but now seems to be over fueling. its fine when i first start it up then when it gets warmed up it sounds like it splutters and miss fires every time i put my foot down and the warning light for the cats comes on. it back fires and there is a strong smell of fuel but no leaks. what could be the problem and could i sort it myself, or is it going to be expensive? please help cheers
