Zed install: buying hardware
Leigh I abandoned my install for various reasons so all the hardware & stuff is just collecting dust. If you're interested PM me and we'll arrange to meet so you can see what's what. WRT screen. I went for a size I could easily fit into the centre console area. Also wanted a daylight readable & touchscreen one. I dare say there's bigger and better and cheaper out there now. Price stuff up and then come and talk to me! CheerZ /\/\ark

Profec e-01 install
Okay - I read the How to install the Greddy Profec B II FAQ Question is.. is it the same for the Profec e-01? Also which pipe do you T into for the boost sensor - the FAQ says this one yet on another install its this one (marked with a green dot) - which is best the one with the Green dot or the one with the Blue dot? Does it make a difference? CheerZ /\/\ark

e-Manage and e-01 info
My profec e-01 arrived with no user manual (shame on you Chris ;) ) but I now have one thanks to that site and works endless supply of paper and toner :D Theres a link on there to the yahoo group for emanage although there's no 300zx related stuff there. Lots to do with getting hold of the software for free and where to get an unofficial cable or make your own. Some people even talk about using it to tune up your motor!! I have got the software from one of the links posted but as for making your own cables people seem to be having more misses than hits. I've ordered the official Greddy stuff - less hassle. Small TV Screen in Dash
I used to have a (daylight viewable tft) touch screen mounted in the dash connected to a pc in the boot and the amps & sub & stuff. Loads of wiring! DVD, TV, MP3, CD, Radio. Shut itself down when you turned the ignition off and such. Still have the screen & pc & the cusom console surround I made - its all collecting dust now in the shed along with all the unfinished software, plans & docs! What did I learn? If time is no problem and you have the tenacity then go with your custom build. Otherwise spend the money on a manufactured soloution. Hth /\/\ark

Anyone know where to get a towbar?
There was. There are bolt holes to fit one already (or so it says in the previous link) Can't imagine there was much demand for them though

Grounding kit
Pete I've no doubt that these are a good improvement/safegaurd _but_ it kinda makes the engine bay look like the back of my PC (cables everywhere) IMHO. Does the kit come with enough slack to maybe tuck the wires in here and there, bundle them together along the 'routes' and make it all look a bit tidier? Also a couple of the leads look like they have been 'daisy chained' rather than fed straight from the negative terminal. If this is ok then why not just daisy chain a couple of leads from the terminal around all the earth points? CheerZ m8t /\/\ark

Am I the only dreamer on here
My wife told me to get a girlfriend! She said it'd be cheaper and she'd get more time with me! ;) All joking aside - she's very supportive and quite content with being second place

Slippy in the wet
Can vouch for that. Best mod I ever did!

boost
Mine was like this when I bought it many moons ago They (Nissan) replaced the gauge in the dash in the end (I can only assume the sender unit was fine as this didn't look like it was replaced). Maybe time for an aftermarket gauge as u know the price of the nissan gauge is gonna be unreasonable. Hth /\/\ark

Grill
The decent stuff is actually woven rather than extruded. RGM do woven stainless steel mesh. Its  but not cheap. I have some on my Z. Looks the business. To mount it we (I had help) used an industrial bonding agent especially for plastics/eurathane(!?) to bond small brackets on and then the mesh is cable-tied to the brakets. Means the mesh can be removed and re-mounted if required.

3" cat back exhaust system
I had a 3" straight through exhaust fabricated once. 3" stainless steel from the back of the turbos straight through to 2 Apexi Dunk boxes with 5" tips! F**K ME WAS IT LOUD  Became known as the 747 exhaust . You could hear the turbos spooling up/whining from the exhaust tips! Only lasted a couple o weeks  . Just couldn't live with the noise. Went back to a quieter cat-back system (HKS) It was made by DP MotorSports in warrington. There were quality issues with their welding. And their idea of looking after a customer leaves a lot to be desired. I will NEVER use them for anything ever again! Did seem to help performance though :p /\/\ark

Ap Racing Brakes
Good point. Mine are the 330mm discs. 18" rims just clear them. Also check the length of the hoses. The ones that came with mine did fit but on full lock they we're tight. After a couple of years they sprang a leak! That was an interesting drive home
-
Ap Racing Brakes
Had mine many years now. Had to have the discs skimmed once a while back but otherwise no problems. Phenominal stopping power. Great for scaring passengers with late braking manuveures  Cost about £2k so looks like you've got a good price but there are cheaper alternatives out there. Oh yeah, and say goodbye to that pathetic spare tyre cause it aint goin on once these babys are in place /\/\ark

who is it!!
Foliatec do a range of paints just for this kind of thing. They do a 'special for plastics' primer. Then a base coat, then a few coats of your chosen colour and then a couple o coats of laquer. If you take the time to do a proper job with the preparation you can get professional looking results. Dont rush it! I did mine many years ago and they are still ok. Foliatec paints are (or were) available through Demon Tweeks Hth /\/\ark
