headlight adjuster cogs
mine have gone on drivers main beam. tried the toy car metal cogs before and they dont work that well. just phoned nissan and they only sell them as complete headlights so needless to say that will be well expensive. Are there any alternatives to make the adjusters work or does anyone have any good cogs that havent broken?

slight coolant smell at idle
any ideas guys. definitely seems to be happening everytime. espeacilly when heaters turned up to hot. I am starting to accept it can be a problem with my heater matrix. Is there a way of checking whether it has a problem without taking all the gubbings apart. i have done the heaters diagnosis and it is fine. Any help?

slight coolant smell at idle
ok i have changed the rad cap to a nismo one and this smell is still occuring..... just to recap it is when the car is fully up to temp, say on a motorway journey, with the heaters on, and slowing down to idle for a couple of mins in a traffic jam or at a traffic lights and a smell of coolant comes into the cabin. Not a strong smell and my girlfriend didnt notice it until i pointed it out but coolant smell is a bit of a sickner of a smell so it has started to get to me when this happens. Dont appear to be loosing any coolant (when cold, 3 or 4 blocks above H in the expansion tank and full rad) that i can notice but it might only be small amounts that i dont notice. no leaking from heater matrix. coolant in good nick and have earth kit. rad in good nick with no cracks. no problems with hoses rupturing under the slightly higher pressure of the nismo rad cap. this smell only occurs under idle which must have something to do with the problem.....

red 300zx on A406
this could have been me. Was it on the Hanger Lane section going down to the M4 in the early afternoon of last friday? I am a bit worried that you say i was smoking. I had another thread where i had an instant of really bad smoking which has since cleared up and i put down to PaulSWZ explanation of oil being drawn into the breathers with all the sloping of the multistorey car park and the overfilled oil. http://www.300zx.co.uk/forums/showthread.php?t=101461&highlight=smoke The problem cleared up after this occasion and it has been fine since. I have been looking carefully recently to check on it and maybe i am seeing a little smoke on start up but i had put that down to condensation in the cold weather we have now and certainly looked no worse than any other car on the road. Although it did seem that there was more coming from one bank of exhaust than the other?? There certainly seemed not to be any smoke apart from after the initial start up but now you have worried me. Did it look bad? I am losing no oil or water and the fuel economy is fine. I changed the oil this weekend after taking it easy on the old oil since the smoke incident happened. I was really booting it this morning and there was no smoke at all that i could see. PCV's are pretty new but could have the oil in the breathers bu99ered them? would this explain the smoke on start up (if smoke at all, has no blue colour or bad smell) but not at idle?

slight coolant smell at idle
nismo cap with probs: http://www.300zx.co.uk/forums/showthread.php?t=71923&highlight=nismo+radiator some dodgy nismo rad caps and oil caps http://www.300zx.co.uk/forums/showthread.php?t=59690&highlight=nismo+radiator extra pressure from higher pressure nismo cap causing hoses to blow http://www.300zx.co.uk/forums/showthread.php?t=48868&highlight=nismo+radiator from yourself about stock ones http://www.300zx.co.uk/forums/showthread.php?t=38515&highlight=nismo+radiator think i will just go for a normal one. Surely nissan cant charge much for one direct from them.

and the nismo one? read a few things in the search saying that some people have had problems with the nismo ones from ebay but also some problems with the replacement stock ones.

slight coolant smell at idle
not sure when it was last changed. would that cause the faint smell at idle? think coolant levels are ok. deffinitely full rad but not sure of exact expansion tank level if it is changing. If it is only this slight bit of vapour escaping very occasionaly it wouldnt loose much would it. If the rad is staying full does that mean the rad cap is functioning ok and letting the fluid expand and contract not drawing in air. sounds like a good thing to change though if it hasnt been done for a while. where is the cheapest place to get one? is there any advantage in the nismo ones i have seen on ebay? I notice they are 1.2 bar instead of 1.1 bar (i think). Does this affect cooling performance?

slight coolant smell at idle
I am getting a slight coolant smell in the cabin but ONLY when the car is at idle. cant find any drips or wet patches on the matt under the heater matrix so dont think that is leaking. What could it be that only shows itself when at idle and not at all during a long motorway journey?

hi, need some help!
anyone got any thoughts if the oil going through my engine and turbos for a shortish period of time has caused lasting problems? or any ideas on which turbo feed pipe could be the one leaking and how it can repaired?

hi, need some help!
oh and a big-up for the guys in sheffield who didnt charge me for the inspections or storing the car for a week. I felt it was my social obligation to give them a few cans for their troubles though. As a 100% southerner i have got to say the northern folk i have met are really friendly and generous people and there is a snowball in hells chance you would get that kind of service in london.

hi, need some help!
just to let you know guys i pucked the car up yesterday from sheffield and it was fine all the way home. Reckon it must of been as PaulSWZ predicted with overfilled oil being sucked into the breathers with the upping and downing of the multistorey and it has now been all burnt off. Hope i havent caused any lasting damage though. It is decatt so havent coated the catalyst but im sure it cant have done any favours to the turbo if it has gone through that??? The guy at the garage said he could only find the small leak from the turbo oil feed pipe that would drop onto the exhaust to potentially cause smoke. But i guess as it is a very small leak which is why i havent noticed and smoke before or after this or any oil usage. He said the feed line was dead tricky to get to. He suggested if the oil feed to the turbo was restricted by this leak the smoking i had experienced could be down to the tub seals going because of oil starvation but i guess due to the incident free trip home this hasnt actually happened. Any ideas which feed pipe could be the one leaking and is it possible to replace without lifting the engine? Thanks guys.
