  1. Jaffa You having a one piece prop made? be interesting to see what difference it makes if any. How much is it costing mate? Only interested because I need a T/T manual prop myself for a convertion I'm doing and at the moment I'm drawing a blank on finding one! Cheers Steve
  2. Cheers guys I'll try the grease first, if that doesn't do it then out comes the big one (hammer that is).
  3. The good book says that: Shaft lenth (ooo er) is 606mm 1st half both Man N/A & T/T spider to spider. 510mm on Auto N/A. 489mm on Auto T/T. 539mm for 2nd half on N/A spider to spider. 388mm for 2nd on T/T Diameter is 75mm on N/A & 82.6 on T/T Hope this helps. Steve
  4. Hello All Doing a Auto to Manual G/box swop and I'm a little concerned as how I'm going to get this bush out of the crank, I've read what others have done and I just can't bring myself to whacking it with a large hammer. Has anybody out there found a successful way of getting these out without resorting to the mighty hammer?. Cheers Steve
  5. Thankyou all Looked a the sites but still doesn't shed any light about how straight forward putting a N/A manual box onto a TT auto engine/car. Cheers Steve
  6. Hello all. Does anyone know if this can be done. My cars a Jap auto and I persume the donner car is also Jap but normally asperated. I Figured that the ECU will need changing for a TT manual but apart from the obvious changes is there something which will put a spanner in the works (so to speak). Cheers Steve
  7. Dont get me wrong I've had a Z32 for 4 years and love it to bits and will nerver sell her but she's getting on (14 years) and things are breaking on a regular basis and usually the frgillity comes down to the engine so much so I feel I can't get the best out of the car due to reliabillity. Hence getting another shell and v8ing it therefore keeping the breed alive and on the road for many years to come. By the way I have 4 Datsun/Nissans so I think I'm fairly loyal to the breed.
  8. Very interesting the response I have got from my original idea. Thought I do a lot more reserch into power and difficulties the boys over in the states have encountered. With the ref to power the small block chevy pushes out, true that in some cases bhp is quite low but in the likes of the covette LT1 engine it produces 440 bhp (reving out about 7 thou), out of the box and 750bhp( reving out at 9 thou), is obtainable and reliable and the torque is unbelievable. The custom performance parts industry for the chevy engine is out of this world and at prices that are hard to believe eg set of pistons £120 Difficulties in fitting a V8. have a look at http://www.HybridZ.org and look at engine swops. and see what you think, and please let me know. I'm glad this has stirred up quite a bit of interest and will let you know how i'm getting on when I get the rolling shell home. Just need to sell my 240z to give me some space. Cheers Stevie
  9. Mine did this twice (Jap spec Auto) and both times it was the horns after they got soaked
  10. Thanks for the input guys my reasoning behind putting in a V8 is so I could junk a lot of the electronics and turbo related parts and Hicas thus saving a lot of weight. I.ve been led to believe that a alloy V8 is probably lighter than the cast iron block Z32 motor I understand that you can get fantastic H/power from a Z's engine but a lazy V8 you could spank all day every day without it throughing a tantrum Anyone got any Idea's what sort of difficulties I could come across when its time to regiser the car Cheers
  11. Hi All I'm New to this site so please excuse me if I seem a little dim Problem is that i've been offered a unregistered 300zx jap import that been partley stripped(engine brakes diff some interior and I had the auto box for my car) and the guy who's car it is said I could have the rolling shell for next to nothing So my question is has anyone plonked a chevy small block in one and what problems did they experiance along the way
  12. I could be wrong but I been told mines the oldest. It's a Jap import and when I registered it had a F reg plate and the factory stickers on the window confirmed it was made on 10th July 89
