  1. cool....so with a bit of outlay its possible to get that weight back down to a mk1
  2. yep 1200kg sounds more like it...thought it was too good to be true...still darn good though considering the power!
  3. yeh thought about mx-5s....would be ideal for the tight twisties...if ya can look beyond the hair dresser image lol....turbo version would be interesting though...am I right in thinking they're a very rare import...never see any for sale. evo....interesting never thought about that...thought they be outside price range...so many different versions though...will have to do a spot of research there me thinks. Liking the idea of mr2 turbo at the mo....you're right I just checked the kerb weight approx 975kg...not bad at all!!! My lovely Zed has been off the road more than on it since I bought it a year ago...queue violins stage left...but when I have managed to drive it to work its just too heavy and cumbersome for the small moorland roads....and then there's the low front spoiler....ouch!
  4. My comute to work is a 75mile round trip half over long straight A roads and half over small moorland roads with lots of twisties, bumps'n'hollows and valleys with hair pins and steep hills...cracking good fun!:smash: Previously used SAAB T16s and lately Pug 205gti...the pug I have to say has been a right hoot! Now because of the route and the way it gets ragged everyday its pretty much on its last legs poor thing...tis a great little car! So what to replace it with? Was so impressed with ithe pug have been thinking about getting another but with an Mi16 engine conversion...and perhaps one or two other mods! But something in me says try something different...plus the pug doesn't have the road presence once back on the long straights. Was toying with the idea of a MR2 turbo...rev2 or 3...like the idea of a mid engined rear wheel driver with that tub whistle in ya earlug....I think! Though I'm thinking it's going to be just too heavy a car for the moors...but I hear it can hold its own with almost anything on the big roads. Anyone got any thoughts....looking for something with a good power to weight ration...torquey...built like a tank but with handling...reasonably good styling and qudos....reliable and not too expensive to maintain...price around 3K mark....oh and fuel economy...get 375miles from £50 in the pug. Cheers
  5. Consider myself cut in half and offered to the gods of the high altar 300zx!
  6. think i remember seeing it for sale on ebay last summer...advertised as the one seen on Top Gear....think he had a youtube link to the race clip
  7. yeh and before that...there was a re-run of the show with the 'new v old generation'.....when the score was 2 races all...the deciding drag race was that beautiful white Zed screaming past the new 350...he-haa...being such an anorak thought I'd tape it for posterity!!!
  8. Cheers guys...have tried to contact Andy but guess he's one busy man at the mo....thanks for his website Dunk300zxtt....shall give this a go...
  9. Bought my first Z last August and it's been a pretty sorry miserable affair...so far! Love these cars though and desparate to get mine fixed and sorted as a daily driver for the summer! Does any one know of a reliable and reputable Zed specialist in Yorkshire anywhere.....or even Manchester way?
  10. Okeedokes...cheers for that Brian,,,might take you up on that ....let me see how I get on first....shall let you know if I'm struggling!
  11. Yep good call....will give all lecky connections a good clean up and see what happens. I'm over in Huddersfield....along Halifax Rd so just a stones throw away from Elland
  12. Thanks all for your advise....think all electrical connections need a good clean up. From memory I think the mechanic did have a few problems with the coil packs when he fitted the new engine....which is why I'm thinking the connectors have probably fried when I put the car threw its paces the other day! So am thinking they'll need replacing anyway. Just been looking on fleabay....found these boyos......pricey yes but any good at all? Anyone had any experience of these splitfire direct ignition connectors? http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Nissan-300ZX-Splitfire-Performance-DIS-UNITS-Coil-packs_W0QQitemZ120218697383QQihZ002QQcategoryZ72205QQrdZ1QQssPageNameZWD1VQQ_trksidZp1638.m118.l1247QQcmdZViewItem
  13. Hi all….had to have a new engine (or recon should I say) fitted to my new TT auto jap last October (cambelt failure on way back from Glasgow after just having bought her…..d-ough was gutted!) After the engine was fitted the mechanic advised me that the wiring loom was very brittle. Ever since then I’ve had a hot start issue.. Also cat warning light used to come on when not being driven that hard. Have been just pootling around trying to just ease the engine in for the first 1000 miles. Recently with the good weather I tried to put her through her paces and drove the car hard. After a bit of stick she started to misfire and is very jumpy on idle at traffic lights. Have driven her a few times round the block since and the misfiring only starts once the car has warmed up after 15-20mins. Looking on the previous threads on here, am I correct in assuming all the above symptoms can be put down to the coilpack? If so, can anyone tell me exactly what the coil pack consists of??? (sorry folks I love driving this magnificent machine but not so hot on the technical side!) And if it is the coil pack, anyone know how much a replacement is likely to be and whether or not a reasonably competent mechanic can do the job or does she need to visit a specialist Zed doctor (anyone in the West Yorkshire area)? Cheers guys…and long live the Zed!
  14. yep the thought of those darn needles in the Z are bugging me already...think I'm gonna have to get the vac out for a few hours otherwise me christmas will be ruined!
  15. Oh yes....always been a last minute fool....up this morning 5.30 to miss madding crowds...4 hrs later and a big hole in me pocket but its all done and dusted!!!
